INTRODUCTION

I am glad that you have decided to investigate "Immersion Discipleship School" (IDS). I believe that IDS is one of the best places for you to invest your time and grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. The heart behind this ministry is very simple; we desire to make disciples who love Jesus in every way and live like Jesus everyday.

Something that sets IDS apart from many other schools, internships, and institutes is that we have specifically designed the program for all ages and stages. If you are 18 and your desire is for vocational ministry - this school is for you. If you are 45 and work a full time job but you want to commit to something that will help you grow in Christ at a higher level in the context of your life - this school is for you. If you are 65 and retired but realizing you would like to take the next step in serving the church and developing your understanding of the Bible - this school if for you. We believe our program will work for every age and stage of life so you don't have to make drastic changes in order to participate.

We are focused on raising up a generation of spiritual leaders and we accomplish this by creating a healthy environment for our students to...

•Grow in the knowledge of God's word

•Gain real-world ministry experience

•Develop spiritual disciplines that are born from a personal relationship with God

•Experience being a vital part of a healthy, growing church community

•Build lifelong relationships with leaders, mentors and peers

•Be transformed more and more in the likeness of Christ

•Experience and walk in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit

This is an exciting year for Immersion Discipleship School as we are connected to Seattle Bible College (SBC). Upon completion of Immersion Discipleship School, a student will have the opportunity to complete a degree with Seattle Bible College depending on performance within the program and requirements with the partnering school.

I look forward to walking with you through the investigation and application process. As you read the following pages we hope that you can imagine being here with us. If you have any questions I would love to discuss those with you personally so feel free to contact me anytime.

We can’t wait to see what God will do in and through you this year as we grow together!

THE MISSION & CORE VALUES OF IMMERSION DISCIPLESHIP SCHOOL

OUR MISSION:

Immersion Discipleship School exists to make disciples who love and represent Jesus Christ.

OUR VALUES:

Devotions, Worship, and Prayer

A huge aspect of IDS is about developing a lifestyle of devotions, worship and prayer. We believe that the life Jesus has called us to live is found in intimacy with Him that flows from a secret place of worship. Jesus constantly invites us into a spirituality that is done because we love our Father in heaven and not for the attention of men. This will be a primary point of development at IDS as we teach, encourage and engage in daily devotions separately and together.

Biblical Formation

We believe that the Bible is God's unchanging word for every nation and generation. We will focus on helping you develop a deep knowledge of God's word where it affects every area of your life. Learning what the Bible says is important, but even more important is learning how to study the Bible for yourself. This is what we are after; teaching our students how to study and contextualize the Bible, where it leads to proper understanding and most importantly, life change.

Spiritual Formation

During our School, we provide opportunities to experience God and be used by Him to minister to others through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We emphasize supernatural ministry because we walk with a supernatural God who wants to use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Personal Formation

Spiritual doesn’t mean impractical, therefore, we make it a goal to help every student develop personal goals, schedules, good habits and common sense. This can often be overlooked in the Church, but without becoming a person of character, we may never minister to some people who are put off by our lack of practical sense. We believe in helping everyone become the best person they can be, which is fully spiritual and fully practical.

Community Life

Potentially the most powerful aspect of being an IDS student will be the community life and deep friendships created throughout the year. You will live, eat, sleep, serve, love, suffer, fail and succeed alongside other people who have chosen to pursue Jesus together. Students will have many opportunities to gather where we grow together as family.

Serving

In following the example of Jesus, we teach and model a life of serving others. You will have many opportunities to love the church through serving in specific ministries. Most of our growth will happen as we take the principles we are learning and apply them as we serve others. We have found this to be one the greatest developing tools for our students.

IMMERSION DISCIPLESHIP SCHOOL - SCHEDULE AND MINISTRY FOCUS

Before you look at the schedule it will be important for you to understand the commitment you will be making in being a part of Immersion Discipleship School. We have a clear mission, with clear values, which will be imparted throughout everything we say and do. However, I want you to know exactly what that will look like for you on a week to week basis.

CHAPEL - Everyone will attend chapel every week on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm - 7:15pm. Chapel is a time where we will worship together, pray together, and have someone share a short devotional with us before class starts. We see this as a vital spiritual component for the School.

CLASSES - Everyone will attend our weekly class on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. Our classes will provide Biblical understanding and practical tools for the specific topics of each class. We will all read 1-2 books for each class as a companion to the Bible. Here is our tentative plan for classes;

January/February - "Understanding the Bible" - You will learn how to study the Bible for yourself!

March/April - "Spiritual Gifts and Callings" - You will learn about EVERY spiritual gift as you discover how God has gifted you for ministry!

April/May - "Missions and Evangelism" - You will learn what the gospel is, how to share the gospel, and what it means to be missional both locally and internationally!

SERVING - Every student will sign up for a ministry focus where they will serve weekly. If you attend Mill Creek Foursquare you will sign up for one of the following areas. If you attend another church you will need to serve weekly at your church and let us know what ministry you are involved in.

1. Children's Ministry

2. Youth/Young Adults Ministry

3. Worship Ministry or Media Ministry (Audio/Video)

4. Frontline Ministry

5. Admin Team (office, admin, support, etc)
