Northallerton Riding Club Newsletter October 2009
The weather was kind to us for the Summer show ensuring all enjoyed their day. With all judges, stewards, helpers and competitors being in the right place at the right time the day ran smoothly and without too many delays. The committee would like to thank all those who helped set up, on the day and clearing away, all help was greatly received.
Area Dressage & Show Jumping Results
It was a long but enjoyable weekend for all those involved in the dressage and show jumping. With both teams and individuals enjoying success.
Dressage - Senior Open team – Deirdre Johnston, individual 2nd , Lynsey Mclaren, individual 3rd, Louise Worsdale, individual 5th, and Yvonne Middlemass. The team finishing 4th.
Senior Riding Test team – Fiona Henson, Steph Harrison, Deirdre Johnston, individual 2nd, and Pam Ashworth, individual 3rd, finished team 3rd.
Yvonne Middlemass came individual 3rd in the Medium test.
Junior Prelim & Novice teams – Harriet Bagley, individual 5th, Jack Bagley, Caroline Clark, individual 3rd, Jake Clark, individual 4th. Team placing – 3rd.
Junior Riding Test 6 team – Dan Clark, individual 4th, Harriet Bagley, individual 2nd, Jake Clark, individual 1st and Caroline Clark, individual 3rd. Team finishing 2nd.
Show Jumping Senior Novice team – Michael Raper, individual 3rd, Jan Brown, Becky Hughes, Vicky Lancaster finishing team 1st!
Senior Intermediate team – Amanda Dawson, Deirdre Johnston, Kathryn Williams and Emily Leggot, individual 2nd, finished team 2nd.
Senior Style Jumping – Lucy Salmon individual 5th.
Junior Novice team – Emily Dawson, Robyn Chilton, Heather Bellis, individual 2nd, Helen Hutchinson, individual 4th, finishing team 1st!
Junior Open team – Helen Hutchinson, Mark Simms, Christie Farren, individual 1st, James Walker finishing team 2nd.
Junior Style Jumping – Emily Dawson, Christie Farren, Helen Hutchinson and Catherine Harston finishing team 3rd.
Congratulations to all those who participated. Also many thanks to the helpers and support on the day, these events could not run so smoothly and successfully without it!
Lincoln Results
Good days had by all competitors and weather good (for a change).
Senior Novice showjumping team Michael Raper, Becky Hughes, Jan brown Vicky Lancaster. Mike was 6th individual.Emily Leggot in Senior intermediate (not placed) Lucy Salmon did style jumping. Deidre Johnston qualified for dressage but was unable to attend.
Junior Novice SJ Helen Hutchinson, Heather Bellis Catherine Harston Emily Dawson finished 8th Heather 3rd individual and Helen 8th individual. Christie Farren 4th individual Junior Open out of 88 competitors.
Junior dressage team Catherine Harston, Harriet Bagley Jack Bagley down to team of three as Jake Clarke had to withdraw. Unfortunately not placed.
Mug Sale 12th August– was a huge success, all the generous raffle prizes that were kindly donated made the lucky winners evening. All money raised was donated to the riding club. The committee would like to offer their thanks to Amanda Dawson for kindly opening her house to us all and for the nibbles, drinks and fun evening we all had. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions for social events please contact a committee member.
Riding Club Endurance- team Chris Myers Janet CouplandLeslie Hughes and Robert Blane won the championship at the Lions Tail Ride near Melton Mowbray organised by Endurance GB. Leslie has written to Riding Clubs head office about the lack of advertising and promotion of this event by Riding Clubs stressing endurance appears to be the poor relation. Endurance GB has tried to get Riding Club involved and we feel they could send someone to the event and try for sponsorship. Endurance is based on the welfare of the horse and we feel is something Riding Club should be more involved in. If anyone has any comments on this or would like more info please get in touch as riding club is for everyone.

Arena Showcross 8th November
We will be running another Arena Showcross at Northallerton EC on 8thNovember, entries on the day, first class to begin at 9.30am, a schedule isavailable from the website. We look forward to seeing members and non-members for another successful day.

Riding Club AGM – Friday 20th November 2009 at Danby Wiske Village Hall, with a pie & pea supper. We will be looking for new committee members this year so please don’t hesitate to contact current members with any queries or volunteers.
