If a student has not attended by Friday, return the packet materials with the schedules to Sara in the main office.
Registration Materials Covered by the Advisory Teacher
Following is a list of materials that must be distributed and explained during the registration process. Registration materials will be located on tables in the commons. Any left-over materials in your rooms after registration need to be returned to the counseling office for use in registering new students.
1. Student Schedule – each student will be issued a schedule which must be affixed to the inside of the back cover of the student planner. This should be done immediately, because the students will need their ID numbers when they go to the lunchroom to put money in their lunch accounts.
Note: Students needing schedule changes on the first day of school should NOT be sent to the guidance office during registration. Our first priority on that day is the registration and enrollment of new students. Students should follow their printed schedule as is until they can meet with their counselor to get it changed.
2. Lunch – “Lunch” is NOT printed on students’ schedules, 6th graders will eat after 3rd period; 7th graders will eat after 4th period; and 8th graders will eat after 5th period. All students should report directly to the lunchroom, get into either of the 2 lines, get their food, pay for their food, then sit and eat their food. Further directions will be given by staff when they are in the lunchroom today.
3. Lunch Account Procedures – All students who eat school lunch, whether paid or free, will use the automated lunch accounting system. Students who buy lunches will deposit money in advance, using their student ID number. In order to avoid congestion during lunch today, 6th graders will be dismissed early from 3rd period (see dismissal schedule page 4). 7th and 8th grade students will deposit money when they go through the lunch line on the first day of school.
4. School Fee Envelopes – should be taken home and returned with payment to the Advisory teacher (Note: if a student wishes to request a fee waiver, they should be instructed to pick up an application in the main office). Fees collected by the Advisory teacher should be turned in to Deb Davis in the main office ON A DAILY BASIS.
5. Free and Reduced Price Lunch Applications – each student must receive a copy of this application. This should be taken home to share with parents and then returned directly to the main office. **This application cannot be the top piece of paper on the desk, put another form, schedule or something on top of it.
6. Locker Cards- Sections of lockers have been assigned to each Advisory. Advisory teachers will assign a specific locker to each student in their Advisory. The locker cards should be completed by the student and returned to the teacher. The top two cards should be turned in to the main office; please alphabetize and put the cards in numerical order. The third card (bottom section) will be kept by the Advisory teachers for their own use.
7. Student Planners – each student is eligible for ONE FREE student planner. Please review the use of the student planner for assignments, hall passes, etc. Stress that students without planners or without planners signed by a teacher will be returned immediately to their classroom. Extra planners are available for purchase (current year) or for free (prior year) through Abby.
8. How students get home – please ask the students how they will be getting home at the end of the day. There is a list of where the busses are located after school on Canvas, then Wiki (Registration…1st day of school, Bus Positions After School). If they don’t know how they are getting home, NOW would be a GREAT time to have them call a parent/guardian to have that conversation.
9. Bells – There are 3 minutes to get from class to class, some teachers may allow 4 minutes and there is a bell that rings at 4 minutes. Each teacher will let each class know how they are using the bells.
10. Hallway traffic – Always walk on the right side of the hall. Students may use any hallway but must stay to the right side (i.e. right side of the tape).
11. Student Led Conferences – September 25 and 26...talk through the process.
12. Getting to know you - get to know your students, and allow them time to get to know you!
