Board Meeting –November 17 at 6:30 will be abudgetary board meeting.

PTO – the next meeting will be December 14 at 6:30 at school.

Santa Breakfast!!! Yummy! As a PTO fundraiser, we are going to invite Santa for a breakfast at school on December 11. We are serving pancakes and other yummies. We will keep you posted on prices but mark your calendars for this fun activity and bring cameras!

Office notes…

In the past 3 weeks we have received $40 worth of boxtops be turned into the office! Yippee! Please keep saving because once the sign is paid for we have another project!

The Campbells soup labels project has been initiated. We have 4,691 points so far. When we have enough points the money will be donated to the preschool program for supplies! Wahoo!

We have a visiting friend/ critter in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade classroom. It is a python that was “gifted” to our classroom. We would love to have this critter have a safe and happy home. If you are interested in having a snake, please contact the office.

Mix-It Up Day! This was a great success! It was fun to have our friends from ILM visit and talk about our favorite place on our island!

Well done to the 4th, 5th and 6th graders! We will be presenting a check to the Welcome Home fund for Vermont Soldiers on December 9th at 1:00. Everyone is welcome to attend the short assembly. We are looking forward to a visit from our professional chef, Chris Veatch, from Sarducci’s restaurant in Montpelier. So our apple pies will be “extra” yummy!

Calendar Check!!!

November13– The Bookmobile is coming to North Hero school. It will arrive at 10am and everyone that visits will receive a free book!

November 16 – Mr. Valenta – bird migration

November 18 – Grades 4 – 6 to Isle La Motte for world speed stacking day.

November 23 – ½ day End of semester 1

November 24 – 26 Thanksgiving Vacation

Congratulations! Steven Chastenay on his recognition from John’s HopkinsUniversity on his outstanding NeCap scores. He will be participating in a distinguished student program! Way to Go Steven!!!!

Skiing!

We have dates! January 7,14, 21, 28 and February 4. February 11 will be our make-up date. The cost will be $60 for skiers for lessons, rental, lift ticket and transportation. The cost will be $75 for boarders for lessons, rental, lift ticket and transportation. (The cost will be $65 if you have your own board.) Please don’t send any money yet!!! I just wanted everyone to know the costs.

We are also working on another ski program for grades 3 – 6. Information will be coming in shortly.

Picture Re-Takes!

If you are interested in picture retakes, please send your entire photo packet into Mrs. Tier in the office. Picture retake day is December 1.

After school program!

We are looking at running an all day program for November 5th from 8 – 2:30. If you are interested, please send a note into the office as soon as possible. Also we are working on after-school care on December 2nd and 3rd for the half days during parent- teacher conferences. Again, please let us know if you are interested.

Basketball!!!

Practices will start the week of November 29. The girls will be coached by Mr. Pearson and they will practice on Monday 5:00 – 6:30 and Thursday 4:00 – 5:00. The boys will be coached by Mr. Perras and will practice Tuesday and Wednesday 2:30 – 4:00. Our first game is December 11. The coaches will send home game schedules at the first practice. THE SIGN IS HERE!! Thanks to all of the box top donations the sign is here and will be installed on Friday, next week. Watch the newsletter for our sign dedication party! Thank you very much to the Caneco family for all of your help with this project! 

The 6th grade class is selling chocolate turkey pops for a fundraiser for our trip to Maine in May. Please call a 6th grader or the office if you are interested. The turkeys are from Vermont Nut-Free chocolates.

6th grade families – I am working on trip plans with a local travel agency. I will set up a meeting time when I have more information. Thanks and go sell turkey pops!!!!
