TeamsTeams of 3 or 4 riders may be entered, 3 lowest scores count in each round. Entries cannot be accepted for less than three riders. Schools may join together to form a team but must make their own arrangements to do so and must submit a single entry form stamped by all the schools concerned. Only teams with all members from the same school can qualify for first three places in the Open and Novice competitions – subsequent places are open to all teams (this restriction does not apply to Primary School Competition).

Team selectors should ensure competitors are competent at their class heights. Riders can only jump at one level, ie. Novice Team and Novice Individual or Open Team and Open Individual, (if they are deemed competent to jump in Open they cannot also jump in Novice).

Form of

Competition 2 rounds for each competitor (each team will jump its first round immediately followed by its second round against the clock). When all the teams have jumped, if more than one team is on the same lowest score a jump off against the clock will take place over a shortened course.

Individuals Competitors who are not members of a team may jump as an individual at the end of the team competition in the Novice and Open classes. They will jump the same two rounds and their jumping faults and time over the second round will determine their place in the individual competition.

RULES - This competition is run under Pony Club Show Jumping Rules 2016

FAULTS

Knockdown / 4 faults
First disobedience / 4 faults
Second disobedience / 8 faults
Third disobedience / Elimination
Fall of rider / 8 faults
Second fall of rider / Elimination (100 faults)
Fall of Horse / Elimination (100 faults)

Elimination reduces the number of scorers for a team – three scores are required for each of the two rounds.

TIED SCORES

First place in each class will be decided if necessary by a jump-off. When all the teams have jumped, if more than one team is on the same lowest score a jump off against the clock will take place over a shortened course. If there are a lot of teams to jump off, the conditions are poor or it is getting late, the judges may use their discretion and decide that only one or two members of each team shall jump off against the clock. The judges’ decision is final.

Other places will be decided on second round timings. If more than one team is on the same second lowest number of faults then the combined time of the three lowest scores of each team in its second round will be used to determine the result – second will be the shortest time, third the next shortest and so on.

PROTESTS

If a judge’s decision is queried and a protest lodged, video evidence will not be accepted.

CONDITIONS FOR ENTRIES

1. A rider may only ride once and only in one team class but can enter individual classes as well.

2. A horse or pony may be ridden by two riders in one class if it is fit to do so.

3. A rider may compete in class B or C providing the school is satisfied that horse and rider are capable of doing so.

4. We are unable to allow stallions to compete because of safety considerations.
