New Employee, Temporary or Transferred Employee Safety Orientation
All new hires must complete Emergency Action Plan training through Learning Management System, independent study or via lecture within 30 days of hire or transfer. During first week of hire or whenever you move to another building your supervisor and/or the safety committee representative will orient you to your assigned building using this checklist.

A template for providing NCRC EHS with your chemical inventory may be obtained from Dan Hurley. UNC NRI building residents may submit their UNC EHS chemical inventory in lieu of using the standard campus template.
NCSU PHHI BUILDING – Maintain up-to-date hard Copy Safety Data Sheet Book at Lab Entrance
UNC CHAPEL HILL also maintains a chemical data base of pure chemicals used in the UNC NRI Building.

NCSU PHHI BUILDING – Each lab is required to have a lab safety plan. Each Lab worker must review the lab safety annually. Lab Safety Plan must be updated annually

No chemical or biological waste disposal by sewer or trash
- CAMPUS TRANSPORT POLICY
Report all spills to EHS and your building manager.
PPE is required when transporting chemical and biological materials within the building. Be sure to leave one hand ungloved so that you can open doors without leaving contamination
Be sure not to touch door handle, etc. with your gloved hands.
Use the freight elevator only.
Do not transport any chemical or biological materials across carpeted areas, on lobby elevator, or in stairwells.
I will notify my supervisor and my Safety Committee representative, if I become disabled and can’t walk down the stairs or walk all the way to the assembly area. I am responsible for the safety of visitors.
