AUGUST 19, 2013

Welcome and Introductions

• President Noellene Zabo opened the meeting by welcoming everyone

• Noellene informed everyone that Patti McClure from the Athletic Office was present to sell season tickets and parking passes

Old Business

Poms

• All high school squads received new poms this year

• Pink poms have been distributed for use in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month

Bows

• Lucille Locke stated that Cheer Boosters will pay for all three of the bows that the girls will use this year

Media Day

• Varsity cheerleaders attended WPXI Media Day at Heinz Field

Sky Zone

• The girls enjoyed team bonding at Sky Zone

Picnic

• There was a good turnout at the first annual Family Picnic held on August 11

• Lucille reported that Cheer Boosters covered the cost of the picnic

UCA Lunches

• UCA lunches were a success and future years should be modeled after this

New Business

T-shirts

• Noellene previewed the new t-shirt that we will be selling this year

• For the first time the shirt will be white instead of black. It is cheaper to print on white, so this year the cost of the t-shirt will be $10 for short sleeve, $15 for long sleeve

• The large trailer that was selling merchandise at the stadium last year will only be at one game this year

• Sign up sheets were available for t-shirt sales in schools and during home games

Tiger Pride Night

• Varsity cheerleaders will perform at Tiger Pride Night on Tuesday, August 20

• We are hoping to sell t-shirts at the event

Football Program

• The program for football games has been completed

• Noellene thanked Verna Wiloch for coordinating the cheerleading tributes

Social Media

• Squad photographers received a memo from Noellene addressing guidelines

• Among these, it is stated that no photos taken of athletes should be posted to social media of any kind

Treasurer’s Report

• Booster participation is nearly 100% for freshman through varsity

• Middle school participation is: MMS-100%; IMS-80%; CMS-less than 50%

Fundraising

• Lynne Warth is still working to find a date for our mini mini camp, possibly a day after comp season but before the banquet

• Mini mini camp may be more of a skills camp this year

• Patti Ferraro reported that high school cheerleaders sold 854 hoagies; middle school sold 211

• With participation low, we will be looking for another fundraiser to take the place of Bruster’s coupon books

• The car wash netted almost $1,000

• We are considering other fundraisers for this year, including a pepperoni roll sale around the holidays

Clothing

• Teri Choban reported that a lot of clothing had been distributed during the week of UCA camp

• Varsity megaphones were sent out for monogramming to ensure uniformity; $20.50 is due from each girl receiving a megaphone and can be given to Teri

Tailgate

• The first tailgate is schedule for Friday, August 30

• Sarah Wigoda is chairing and asks that everyone respond by August 23

• No alcohol may be consumed at the tailgate

Homecoming Parade

• We are still seeking a volunteer to coordinate

Banquet

• The banquet will be very similar to the one held last year

• The committee is still looking at dates, but confirms it will be held at Treesdale on a Friday night

Senior Night(s)

• Melanie Rutan confirmed that Senior Night will be during the last home football game of the season

• For basketball, it is usually the last home game

Our next Booster meeting will be held in October, the date and time to be announced.
