Service package 3: Mapping of biological data

The bioinformatics platform in integrated system biology (SYSBIO) offers three service packages:

SP1: Sequence assembly and annotation

SP2: DNA sequence analysis

SP3: Mapping of biological data

In SP3 (mapping of biological data) SYSBIO offers to perform mapping of biological data such as expression data of genes from microarray studies to metabolic pathways. SYSBIO can also perform mapping of high-throughput sequence data (RNA-seq) to bacterial genomes or large DNA fragments.

Mapping of gene expression data: Results can be used to view the expression of complete metabolic pathway rather than single genes.

Mapping of RNA-seq data: Results can be used to calculate differentially expressed genes (if samples from two or more conditions) and to improve gene annotation.

Service Package (SP) / Task / Specification
SP3.a / Mapping of gene expression data: / Sigma factors: If -10 and -35 binding motifs are known and conserved or organism closely related to e. coli, SYSBIO may perform prediction of different sigma factors. Search matrices are built from known binding sites and genomes (or other DNA) are scanned for similar motifs.
SP3.b / Mapping of RNA-seq data: / Rho independent terminators: Genomes (or other DNA) are scanned for Rho independent terminators.
