Norman Lawnick Aerospace Education Scholarship

(Applications will be accepted between January 1 and April 1)

This $1,000.00 scholarship is available through the Scholarship Committee of the Missouri Pilots Association. Scholarship(s) are awarded annually, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, to applicants who are enrolled or are planning to enroll in an aviation related curriculum at a Missouri college or university. Award(s) will be made to students pursuing a degree in any field of Aviation, without regard to gender, race, religion or national origin. Through these scholarship(s) the organization hopes to encourage the growth of aviation related industry and education in the state of Missouri.

CRITERIA:

To apply, a student must:

a. be a full time student in good academic standing at a Missouri institution of higher learning.

b. be worthy, deserving and of good moral character.

c. show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of aviation.

SELECTION PROCESS:

1. The recipient(s) of the MPA Scholarship(s) will be recommended by the Scholarship Committee. Recipient(s) shall be approved by the Missouri Pilots Association Board of Directors.

2. The application(s) must be delivered or postmarked by April 01. Recipient(s) shall be announced by May 15 of any given year.

3. The Educational Endowment Fund Board of Trustees will annually submit the number and award(s) amount to be approved by the MPA Board of Directors. If adequate funding is not available, the Board of Trustees will exercise the option of making no selection.

Write a 300 word essay (typed, double-spaced) on why you wish to pursue a career in aviation.

Scholarship Data

To be eligible for the $1,000.00 Norman Lawnick Aerospace Education Scholarship you must:

1. Submit a completed application form.

2. Provide a transcript of all academic work.

3. Provide a typewritten essay describing your sincere interest in an aviation career.

4. Provide two references, (non family members) with contact information .

5. Be a student attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university full time within the state of Missouri.

Form may be reproduced locally. Recipients only will be contacted by May 15regarding the details of their scholarship. Recipients may be asked to submit a head shot photograph for scholarship announcement in publications. Scholarship checks are sent to the colleges or universities by June 01 and are to be used for tuition and lab fees for the upcoming school year.
