STMAYHA Volunteer Hours

Definitions:

Non Traveling: Mini Mites/Mites/U8 – Initiation level

Traveling: U1O/Squirts and up

Hours/Pay-out:

15 Hours per traveling player – only 5 hours can be obtained from board meetings.

10 Hours per non traveling player – only 5 hours can be obtained from board meetings.

30 Hours maximum per family traveling players

20 Hours maximum per family non-traveling players

$300 per traveling player

$300 per non traveling player

$600 maximum per family

One check per child. No partial payments. All hours must be complete or the check will be cashed. If you have more than one child, you can opt to do the hours for one child and check(s) for the other child(ren) would be cashed.

Traveling kids may work with their parents to earn volunteer hours. Traveling kids attending board meetings will not count toward volunteer hours.

If a child quits hockey part way through the season, it will be a board decision regarding the status of their volunteer hour check.

New Volunteer Year will co-incide with the registration year. August 1st thru July 31st.

2011-2012 season will be May 2011 thru July 31st 2012.

Dibs Shifts replace Hours

Starting May 2011, all volunteer opportunities will be regardedto as shifts and not hours. The Dibs button on the website will provide numerous events in which to fulfill required shifts. Events and schedules will be uploaded throughout the season.

Team Managers are no longer able to approve volunteer shifts. If an opportunity is not on Dibs, it must be pre-approved by the Volunteer Coordinator. Any shift claimed (and worked) on Dibs will count towards commitment (no pre-approval is required).

Penalties for not working a claimed shift on Dibs:

1st Offense = $25 added to ice bill

2nd Offense = $50 added to ice bill

3rd Offense – Forfeit of volunteer deposit

Opportunities to Complete Hours

Any Sponsor of a team will include ONE volunteer exemption (15)

Coaches

All Travel coaches (4 rostered per team) will have their complete volunteer responsibility fulfilled. Assistant coaches will receive full exemption with head coach approval.

Non Travel Coaches: Level/Head Coaches will have their complete volunteer responsibility filled. Assistant coaches will receive ONE 10 shift exemptionor full exemption with head coach approval.

Team managers/representatives

Traveling: ONE 15 shift exemption per team(may be split between persons)

Non traveling: ONE 10 shift exemption per team(may be split between persons)

Volunteer Opportunity Examples:

Home games/scrimmages/Tournaments/Jamborees

*Clock (one person per game)

*Scoreboard (one person per game)

*Penalty Box (two people per game) – Counts as ½ shift per game

*Tickets/Sales

Game Shifts:

Mite = (1)

Squirt/10U = (1)

PeeWee/12U = (1.5)

Bantam/14U = (1.5)

The following will not be considered for volunteer hours:

*Preparation or planning of team parties,

*Photos

*Collection of STATS

*Attendance at meetings (except monthly board meeting)

*Providing snacks

*On-ice help that is not approved by the level coordinator prior to help occurring

*Working the concession stand at the Moose Skerrit Arena, it benefits the Stars Association, not STMAYHA
