Non-Executive Member Reappointed to the Board of NHS Lanarkshire

The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport today announced the reappointment of Michael Fuller asa Non-Executive Member of the Board of NHS Lanarkshire

NHS Lanarkshire serves a population of around 562,000 and is committed to improving the health of the population, reducing health inequalities and ensuring that appropriate and high quality healthcare is provided.

Michael Fuller has been a member of Lanarkshire NHS Board since April 2012, and is currently the Chair of the Healthcare Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee, as well as, a member of the Acute Operating Management Committee, the Planning Performance and Resources Committee, and the North Lanarkshire Joint Integration Board. Michael has over 28 years’ experience of the Scottish NHS, previously through his employment as Scottish NHS Officer of the Trade Union, Unite.

Michael was formerly a member of the Healthcare Improvement Scotland Board and the Employment Tribunals, as well as the former Chair of the Scottish Partnership Forum, the Scottish Workforce and Staff Governance Committee, the Scottish Pension Group, and the Modernising Nursing in the Community Board.

This appointment will be for four years and will run from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2020.

This reappointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £8,088 per annum for a time commitment of an average of 8 hour per week.

Michael does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

This reappointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Michael has not had any political activity within the last five years.
