MR15 Summary of Functionality

The main focus of this Maintenance Release is:

  1. Homepage;
  2. Anomaly;
  3. Queriesand Reports; and
  4. Data Archiving.

The following is a summary of enhancements and repairs included in Maintenance Release 15

Function/Subsystem / Summary
HBS
Alert Messaging / An enhancement has been implemented to enable the display of an alert message at the top of the HBS home page and each main tab page[PB1].
Online users can now be immediately alerted of outages, application problems, processing delays, or other HBS issues. This new feature provides a more immediate and better directed alternative to emailed application status updates.
HBS
Online Help / A repair has been implemented to ensure that all Help links to the HBS online manual now open in a separate browser window.

HBS
Email links / Various email links throughout the HBS application have been updated[PB3].
Email links to the HBS helpdesk now use the updated email address.
User Services
User access / Deactivated users no longer have access to the authenticated HBS website.
Security has been enhanced by ensuring that deactivated users no longer have access to the authenticated HBS website.[ET4]
User Services
Associated Sites / Industry Site Administrators (ISAs) can now be associated with scale sites whose status is Inactive or whose authorization has expired[PB5]. Inactive or expired Scale sites now show up on the list of Associated Sites under User Services. Ministry and Industry User Administrators can associate inactive or expired sites with user ids with the ISA role. Users with add or update authority can insert or change scale returns online for scale sites that are inactive or expired.
This enhancement makes it possible for ISAs and other users with the appropriate role to enter or update scale returns for sites that are inactive or expired.
Public Website
Tabs / On the public HBS website, the ‘HBS Update’ tab text has been changed to ‘HBS Info’ with the corresponding tool tip changing from ‘Updates’ to ‘HBS Information’. The links from the ‘Glossary’ and the ‘HBS Info’ tabs now open in separate browser windows.
Theupdates to the behaviour of links on the Public help to ensure consistency between the public and industry websites.
Queries
Breadcrumbs / The breadcrumbs on screen P451 –List of Invoices and on screen P456 – List of Volume Statements / Compiled Sample Statements / Ratio Statements, have been enhanced to reflect the type[BE6] of document displayed in the list.
The breadcrumbs on P451 and P456 now correctly reflect the document type displayed on the screen.
Queries
Breadcrumbs / The breadcrumb on screen P453 - Transmissions of Issued Statements, has been changed to correctly reflect the page title[BE7]. The breadcrumb on P453 now reads:
Home > Queries Menu > Search for Transmissions > Transmissions of Issued Statements.
The breadcrumb on P453 has been corrected.
Homepage
Anomalies / Links have been added to the HBS home page for Industry users with the Industry Site Administrator (ISA) role and for Ministry users with the Ministry Scaling Administrator (MSA)role[PB8]. These links are for the following new anomalies added over the past 30 days:
  • Scaling Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Weight Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Arrival Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Arrivals without Departures
  • Departures without Arrivals
  • Weigh Slips without Samples
  • Samples without Weigh Slips
  • Weigh Slips without Red Tags
  • Red Tags without Weigh Slips
Users with the ISA role and users with the MSA role are now able to quickly access anomaly reports for anomalies added during the past month. This will facilitate correcting errors and finding missing scale.
Anomalies
Gap and Duplicate Anomalies / Gap and Duplicate anomalies can now be searched for separately[PB9]. Searches for the following Gap and Duplicate anomalies are now available to users with authority to view anomalies:
  • Scaling Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Scaling Event Gaps (new)
  • Scaling Event Duplicates (new)
  • Weighing Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Weighing Event Gaps (new)

Searching for specific types of gap or duplicate anomalies has been implemented.
Anomalies
Industry Scalers / Industry users with the Industry Scaler role now have authority to search for anomalies[PB10]. The anomalies are restricted to the following anomaly types, and only for those events for which they are the primary scaler:
  • Scaling Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Scaling Event Gaps
  • Scaling Event Duplicates
  • Weighing Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Weighing Event Gaps
  • Weighing Event Duplicates
  • Arrival Event Gaps and Duplicates
  • Arrival Event Gaps
  • Arrival Event Duplicates
Industry scalers are now able to search for anomalies recorded under their scaler license. This will facilitate scalers in finding errors in their returns and correcting those errors.
Batch Jobs
Summarization / Logging details for all versions of the summarization batch job has been improved[PB11].
This enhancement makes it easier for Support staff to identify specific batch jobs that fail and take the required corrective measures.
Billing Mgmt.
Final Bill Status Summary / Hyperlinks under the return status captions on:
  • P829 – Final Bill Status Summary and
  • P830 – Final Bill Status Summary (Single Population w/Stratum List)
have been repaired so that the correct list of matching returns is now displayed on P051 – Weight Scale Summary Returns. Previously, incorrect results were displayed if particular queries were run prior to searching for the Final Bill Status Summary. Also, the search criteria displayed on P829, P830, and P051 ar now correctly displayed.[DG12]
Information is now correctly displayed when clicking on the return status hyperlinks on P829 and P830.
Scale Returns
Check Scale Edits / The following new edits have been added for Piece and Sample Check Scales:
  • CHKSD1 – Original scale return found, but its scale date is after the check scale date
  • CHKSD2 – Original scale return found, but its scale date is more than 30 days[ET13]before the check scale date
The new edits will help to identify check scale returns and associated original returns that have scale date problems.
Reports
Detail List Reports / Additional information has been added to detail scale return list reports.
Parcel ID and Parcel Count have been added to report:
  • R551 – List of Log Tallies
LDS Number has been added to reports:
  • R551 – List of Log Tallies
  • R601 – List of Weigh Slips
  • R651 – List of Sample Tallies
Cut Block has been added to reports:[DG14]
  • R601 – List of Weigh Slips
  • R651 – List of Sample Tallies
These enhancements will improve anomaly management and facilitate reconciliation of cut block departures for returns with split loads.
Reports
Cut to Cruise Comparison / An enhancement has been implemented to screen P490 – Cut to Cruise Comparison Report that enables users to exclude timber marks that expire before a specified date.
Also, the timber mark Expiry and Extend dates are now displayed on report R490 – Cut to Cruise Comparison Report.[DG15]
This enhancement will enable users to produce Cut to Cruise Comparison Reports that exclude data from expired timber marks.
Stratum Advisor
Access / Enhancements have been made to to following Stratum Advisor screens:[BE16].
P850 – Stratum Advisor Menu:
  • The ‘Add a Sample Plan’ link is now available only to users with the Ministry Sample Plan Administrator (MPA) or Industry Sample Plan Administrator (IPA) roles.
P880 – List of Sampling Plans:
  • The ‘Add a Plan’ link now available only to users with MPA or IPA roles.
P891 – Add a Sampling Plan;
P881 – Edit a Sampling Plan;
P896 – Copy a Sampling Plan;and
P897 – Create a New Sampling Plan from Actuals:
  • For users with the MPA role, the district drop down listnow references only districts the user is associated with. This constraint prevents MPAs from creating plans they can not update.
  • For users with the IPA role, the district drop down lists nowreferences all districts. Also, the client number and location code arepre-populated with the user’s client number and location code, and these values are not editable. This constraint prevents IPAs from creating plans they can not update.
New constraints prevent MPA and IPA users from creating plans they cannot update.
SS Compilation
Segregation Ratios / An adjustment has been implemented to the segregation ratio for the segregation with the greatest ratio to ensure that the total ratio displayed on Compiled Sample Statements, is the sum of all the segregation ratios[DG17].
This adjustment was already applied correctly on screen P155 - Sample Scale Summary Return Segregations.
The segregation ratios displayed on the Compiled Sample Statements now correspond with those displayed on screen P155.
Queries
Archive Limits / Queries from screen P431 – Mark Monthly Billing / Scaling History Query Selection, are now restricted to dates no earlier than January 1, 1995 or 15 years prior to the current year, whichever is more recent.[BE18]
This change extends the range of data retrievable for Harvest Reports by Date of Invoice and for Harvest Reports by Date of Scale from 7 to 15 years, subject to data availability.
Queries
Archive Limits / Searches for Statements and Invoices are now restricted to 7 years plus the current year. Edits have been applied to the following screens:
  • P421 – List of Invoices and Volume Statements (Billing Summary Selection)
  • P449 – Search for a Single Issued Document
  • P450 – Search for Issued Documents
  • P452 – Delivered Transmissions
  • P456 – Multiple Invoice Selection
  • P457 – Invoice Report Request
Access to single issued statements and single old-style invoices via links throughout the HBS application are also constrained. In cases where a link references a document that does not exist, or where it does exist but its issue date is older than the limiting date, a new screen, P474 – Document Unavailable screen, is displayed.[BE19]
Restrictions have been implemented to searches for statements and invoices in accordance with current HBS archiving strategy.
Scale Returns
Archive Limits / Various searches are now restricted to 7 years plus the current year. Edits have been applied to the following screens[BE20]:
  • P045 – Search For Summary Returns - Scale From Date and Issue From Date
  • P046 – Search For Detail Returns - Event From Date
  • P047 – Detail Returns In Submitted Batches - Batch Received From Date
  • P024 – Submitted Detail Batches - Batch Received From Date
  • P041 – Submitted Detail Transmissions - Transmission Received From Date
  • P401 – Scale Site Summary Report - Scale From Date

The following two obsolete searches have been removed from P002 – Scale Return Menu:
  • P044 – Summary Returns in Submitted Batches
  • P025 – Submitted Summary Batches
Restrictions have been implemented to searches for detail and summary returns in accordance with current HBS archiving strategy.
Scale Returns
Archive Edits / The following new edits have been added for Detail, Summary, Arrival and Departure Ledgers:[ET21]
  • SD02 – Year of scale date is more than six years prior to current year.
  • AD02 – Year of arrival date is more than six years prior to current year.
  • DD02 – Year of departure date is more than six years prior to current year.
These new edits ensure that scale returns or ledgers will go into error and not process to issuance if their event date is six or more years prior to the current year.
Archiving
Batch Jobs / An HBS batch process has been implemented to purge HBS incoming transmissions (XML data) that are more than one year old from the HBS server file directories[PB22].
Other batch jobs have been created to purge reports that are more than 31 days old, and invoices that are more than 7 days old[PB23].
Processes to purge obsolete documents have been implemented in accordance with current HBS archiving strategy.
Scale Returns
Entering Log Details / Various problems with screen P658 – Update Log Details have been resolved.[DG24] Entering of log details now functions correctly for both log tallies and sample tallies.
Log detail entry problems for Sample Scale detail returns onscreen P658 have been repaired.
Home
Check Scale Links / New links have been added to the HBS home page for users with the following roles[PB25]:
  1. Industry Site Administrator (ISA):

The new ‘Replaced By Check Scale’ links provides users with the appropriate role a direct link to search results for each of the two types of detail returns (log tally, sample tally), selecting original billable returns from scale sites associated with the ISA or MSA, or selecting original billable returns where the ISC's scaler licence number = primary scaler licence, and where the Check Replaces Original Indicator = 'Y', and the scale date is within the last 30 days.
The new ‘Check Scale Replacements’ link provides users with the appropriate role a direct link to search results for each of the two types of detail returns (log tally, sample tally), selecting check scale returns from scale sites associated with the ISA or MSA, or selecting check scale returns where the MCS's scaler licence number = primary scaler licence, and where the Check Replaces Original Indicator = 'Y', and the scale date is within the last 30 days.
Users with the ISC role or the MSC role can no longer enter ledgers for non-scaling event types. Links to the entry screens for arrival ledger event types Scaled Before and To Deck and for departure ledger event type Departure have been removed from screen P004 – Add Detail Scale Data for users with the ISC or MSC role.
Users with the ISA role or with the MSA role can relinquish their update privileges to a return, by changing the scale site to one with which the user is not associated.
Users with the ISC role or with the MSC role can relinquish their update privileges to a return, by changing the scaler licence to one that is not the user’s scaler licence.
Authorizations for users with the ISA, MSA, ISC, and MSC roles have been refined.
Home
Link Improvements / A number of revisions have been made to Home page links[BE26]:
  • the ‘SFP Tallies’ link under the ‘XML Batches’ section has been removed;
  • the ‘Arrival Ledgers’ and ‘Departure Ledgers’ links are now ‘Arrival’ and ‘Departure’ sub-selections of the ‘Ledgers’ link group; and
  • the ‘Departure Ledger’ link has been removed for users with the MSC or ISC role.
Also, Searches from P041 – Search for Detail Scale Transmissions now work correctly even when the transmission batch count is 0.
