Earth ScienceChoice Activities

These are your choice activities.Anytime you are finished with your work for the day, you are to work on one of these activities. Remember to work quietly and independently at all times. Choice Activities & Extra Credit are due on Test Days!

Directions:

  • YOU MUST CHOOSE FOUR DIFFERENT ASSIGNMENTS for EACH UNIT! The 4 activities together count as one class work grade.
  • You can do additional choice activities for extra credit on the unit test. Each choice activity after the 4th will count as 2 extra credit points on the unit TEST. Themaximum extra credit per test is 4 points.

Choices:

  1. Test Questions: Write 10 possible test questions for the current unit. Include and answers key.
  2. Acrostic Poems: Write 2 different acrostic poems for 2 vocab words in the current unit (as the main word), using words in each poem o to define the main words. This should be neat and colorful.
  3. Graffiti: Make a graffiti (word splash) picture using the vocabulary words from the current unit. It should be colorful & creative & fun. The word should look like the meaning of the word.
  4. Journal: Choose a standard from the current unit and write two paragraphs discussing the challenges you have had in learning the standard. What type of lesson helped you understand the standard the most? What have you done to try and learn the standard?
  5. Wrong Answer: Pick three questions you missed on a previous assignment. Write the question, your incorrect answer, and explain what you now know to be the correct answer. Where was the information you needed to get the correct answer (notes, book, etc)?
  6. Current Event: Using the internet or a printed resource, find a current event news article that relates to the current unit. Print a copy of the entire article and then write 3-5 sentences summarizing the information in the article.
  7. Diagram: Choice one concept and create a colorful, detailed diagram explaining the concept.
  8. Have an Idea: Get permission from Mrs. Harvey. Suggest your idea to her and see what she says.
