2015 NSSA
NATIONAL YOUTH REGATTA
RUTLAND SAILING CLUB
Nomination Form for Bursary for Sailors
NSSA has recently benefitted from a major investment in it’s future from the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (ASSF), part of which is designated to enable all youngsters to have the opportunity to take part in sailing, regardless of their financial circumstances. As a result of this, NSSA are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of bursaries to assist deserving youngsters who due to financial circumstances would not normally be able to take part in the NSSA National Youth Regatta (NYR) at Rutland this year. We have three different ways to help youngsters with this bursary, listed below, for a limited number of sailors, we are able to cover the entry fee, camping and meals, and in two categories the use of a dinghy.
- Laser Performance will be providing six Laser Bahia dinghies to be used in the Mount Haes event this year, and as the boats will be on site throughout the week, Laser Performance have agreed that these boats may be used during the week for a limited number of sailors who would not otherwise have a boat to sail at the NYR. The bursary will include free use of a Laser Bahia dinghy, entry fee, camping and meals on the event designated campsite. Please bear in mind that the Laser Bahia is a medium size, double handed, three sail dinghy and it is unlikely that sailors under the age of 15 will be able to handle the boat. Please indicate if only one of the sailors in the DH boats is applying for a bursary.
- If sailors have access to a dinghy to take part in the event (possibly a centre or club dinghy) but are not able to pay the additional fees required, for a limited number of sailors we can offer a bursary to include entry fee, camping and meals on the event designated campsite. Please indicate if only one of the sailors in the DH boats is applying for a bursary.
- We hope to be able to make available additional double handed dinghies (RS Fevas) for a limited number of sailors who would not otherwise have a boat to sail at the NYR. The bursary will include free use of a dinghy, entry fee, camping and meals on the designated campsite. Please indicate if only one of the sailors in the DH boats is applying for a bursary.
As the manager of your team, we are inviting you to submit an application on behalf of deserving young sailors in your team who would like to compete in the NYR but do not have the financial means to do so. Only ONE nomination for each of the three categories will be accepted from each team. We are relying heavily on your trust and knowledge of the sailors and their personal circumstances to ensure that these bursaries are given to genuine deserving cases. It should also be noted that the nominations will be treated as confidential, and successful nominated sailors will be treated in the same way as all other sailors.
