Noah’s Ark Newsletter November Update 2013

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a relaxing half term holiday. This term will be busy with many exciting activities planned for the children with our topic “The world around us including autumn, celebrations and Christmas.”

We are starting the topic off with a walk to the park on Wednesday 6th November in the morning and afternoon session. We hope that the children will be bringing back natural items such as leaves, conkers and twigs for a display table and other activities that we have planned.” We need your help with this walk so that all children can go at the same time. A high ratio of two children per adult is required. Please talk to the staff if you are able to help. The walk should take no longer than 45 minutes and we will leave right after register time. Please also send your child with an appropriate coat and wellie boots as it can be muddy and wet.We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

Dates for your diary

Colin, the photographer, is visiting Noah’s Ark on Friday 15th November to take portraits of your child. He will be staying from 10 – 2.00pm. If your child does not attend on a Friday you can still bring them along for the portrait only. Proceeds from sales will be shared with Noah’s Ark.

Pyjama Day 27th November. Please let your children wear their favourite pyjama to pre-school and help to fund raise at the same time. A donation of £1 is requested on the day. The staff might dress up too!

Noah’s Ark Christmas Singing on Friday 13th December. Parents are invited to watch the children at 11am in the morning session and 2.30pm in the afternoon session. Children who do not normally attend on a Friday are encouraged to join us at 10.30am and 2.00pm respectively. Requests for costumes will be sent in due course.

Decorate the Christmas tree’ challenge. Your child’s challenge is to find as many different items/colours and put them on the tree. This is a fun activity that you can do together with your child. It is educational too when counting the items and talking about the different objects. Please ask all your friends, neighbours and relatives to sponsor your child in the challenge, e.g. 50p for each item on the tree. Last year we managed to raise £327and the year before a staggering £820. We hope to achieve a similar good result for this year. We will send this via your child’s book bag. Many thanks in advance for your support in helping to fund raise.

Thank you to all parents who came to our parents’ consultation day. We hope that you have found it useful and informative. If you have missed the meeting please approach your key person and she will be happy to make a mutually convenient appointment. Please note that it will be easier to have a meeting right after drop off in the morning or afternoon. We also hope that you enjoy the Learning Journey and find something to put in from home. The children are encouraged to talk about their ‘work’ to the whole group which helps to increase their confidence. In the coming months we will be adding many more pictures and special achievements in your child’s Learning Journey so please return it to us as soon as possible. Thank you.

We are family

Sandie would like to put a poster together to celebrate the different cultures and family lives of the children in Noah’s Ark. Please could we have a photo or two of your families celebrating an occasion such as a family holiday, wedding, christening, festival or family tradition. The poster will be called “We are family” and the photos will be glued onto it so please do not send in any photos that may be sentimental or precious as we will not be able to return them. If you have any questions please see Sandie otherwise she looks forward to receiving your photo(s).
