New AAC rules allow the handler to move a dog from Specials into Regular classes once during the dog’s career. Such a switch will require the handler to notify the AAC via the appropriate Regional Director (form available at but will not require application or approval. A switch from Special to Regular cannot be made mid-trial.

Special Classes: This classis open to all dogs but are intended for dogs that are of a size or stature that limits their jumping ability (see AAC rules for equipment specifications)

Veteran Classes: This class is open to all dogs that are seven years of age or older.Dogs that are five years of age or older who have competed in the Specials Agility Class for a minimum of one calendar year may transfer to Veterans Class. Under AAC rules a dog transferring to the Veterans Class must jump one jump height below its Regular Class height; additionally, the dog’s owner may choose to jump the dog two jump heights lower than it’s Regular Class height. The Veteran dog must jump the same height for all classes at any particular trial, but may choose which height to jump trial by trial.

Team Rules: Team is played at one level only, and is run as a Masters level game with Masters level rules. Refusals are called on all equipment, weave poles are judged by Masters rules, and all off-course or incomplete is an automatic Elimination (E). Any dog at any level (Regular, Specials, Veterans, Starters, Advanced and Masters) can be entered in Team. Teams are composed of dogs and handlers at any combination of levels.
