Subject: Invitation: World Space Week, October 7-9, 2015 at IST

Dear Sir/Madam,

1.  The Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad is a pioneer institution in Pakistan offering graduate & undergraduate programs in Aerospace, Electrical, Materials Sciences and Mechanical Engineering along with Space Science and Remote Sensing & GISc. IST is ranked amongst top engineering universities of Pakistan and is determined to expand the public's awareness in the field ofspaceTechnology.

2.  In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly declared 4-10 October as World Space Week (WSW). Pakistan is endeavoring to enter into the realm of Space Science & Technology and related applications. The success of any space program relies greatly on public understanding and support. It is, therefore important to communicate the benefits of Space Technology to the public on regular basis.

3.  The theme of WSW for the year 2015 is “Discovery”. World Space Week 2015 highlights the great era of deep space discovery that we are in. We have never learnt as much of the universe we live in as in the last decade. Space telescopes, deep space probes and several interplanetary satellites and landers have shown us the magic, wonders and opportunities of new worlds. Exoplanets, galaxies far away and close by and landings on planets, moons, asteroids and comets teach us about where we humans have come from and where we will go in the future. Space is all about Discovery!

4.  In view of the above, like previous years, Institute of Space Technology has planned to hold various events at its campus from October 7 - 9, 2015 in collaboration with National Space Agency of Pakistan SUPARCO. We would like to invite students of your prestigious institution to participate in these events to celebrate WSW and to promote the awareness about space technology.

5.  Detail of the events, program, poster, rules & regulations and instructions are attached and also available online http://ist.edu.pk/wsw.

6.  Please send your nominations latest by Thursday, October 1, 2015.
