1.PRAYER/ MEDITATION

The Honorable DeputySpeaker presided and asked the house to observe a moment of silence for prayer or meditation.

2.MINUTES OF THE 26 NOVEMBER 2009 AND 25th FEBRUARY 2010

The Hon. Deputy Speaker tabled two sets of minutes of the previous sittings before the House for adoption. The House adopted the minutes as a true record of the sittingsheld on the 26th November 2009 and 25th February 2010.

3.Motions:

a)Motions Without Notice.

i).Hon. Mfundisi on behalf of UCDP placed a motion without notice

in recognising that today marks 100 days before the beginning of the FIFA soccer world cup contest.

The House adopted the motion

Members raised concerns that some MECs seem not to be aware that the responses from their respective departments were submitted and distributed in the House. As a result of such uncertainty Members felt that those questions be deferred to the next Sitting when they are ready to table them in the House.

Ruling: Hon. Deputy Speaker ruled that since responses have been submitted to the

Office of the Speaker and distributed in the House Members should treat them as

5.Statements by Members.

6.Announcements, Tablings and Committee Reports

(i)Announcement.

Hon. Deputy Speaker announced that the Premier will respond to the debate in the next sitting on the 4th March 2010 at 10:00 and that will be followed by the Budget Speech at 11:00.

(ii)Tablings

Hon. Deputy Speaker mentioned that the Office of the Speaker received the following petitions:

  • Whistle blowing about conflict of interest in the Tlokwe Municipality
  • Proposal of amalgamation of Molopo and Kagisano Municipalities.
  • Petition from Gathulo village Tribal Office

All the above petitions were referred to the Portfolio Committee on Local

Government, Housing and Traditional Affairs for processing.
