ABOUTTHECOACHES

SHARATH CHANDRA (PROGRAM DIRECTOR & HEAD COACH – Group 1,2 & 3)

  1. State medalist in Swimming – trained at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre for 11 years under Senior coach Bhushan Kumar and Raju Pujari.
  1. COACHING CERTIFICATIONS:-
  • Obtained Level 1 certification in Learn to swim & Water Safety conducted by Karnataka Swimming Association in 2013.
  • Attended the Swim America Program in 2014. Presented by Brian Mcquire.
  • Obtained ASCA Level 1 and Level 2 Certification in 2014 conducted by ASCA in association with Glenmark Aquatic Foundation at Mumbai.
  • Attended ASCA Level 3 Course in 2015 in Pune. Yet to receive certification. In process of training Swimmers at the Academy to achieve the specified timings as per requirement for certification.
  • Attended the AUSTSWIM – Teacher of swimming and water safety in August, 2016. Certified by Austswim presenter Partha Varanashi.
  • Attended the AUSTSWIM - Teacher of infant and pre-school aquatics in November, 2016. Certified by Austswim presenter Ceri Weeks.

HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL CAREER (Swimming)

  • First Indian to qualify for swimming at the OLYMPICS(Sydney 2000)
  • Senior National Champion from 1994-2004.
  • Won more than 600 gold medals at State, National and International Meets. Represented India at the World swimming championships (1998 and 2004)& Asian Games(1998)
  • Only Indian athlete to win 14 gold medals at the National Games 1999.

Initial Enrollment Requirements: Swimmers entering the program must be fluent in all 4 strokes and be able to complete minimum 1.5 KM workouts. Trial is mandatory prior to signing up for the program.

Quarterly –Rs. 11250/- plus GST.

Terms and conditions

  • Swimmers are bound to be regular and punctual to the sessions. Any relaxation in regulations has to be with prior permission of the Coach. Swimmers who do not fulfil the commitment criteria will be moved out of the program
  • Special Sessions might be held on Weekends/ Holidays and might include extra costs which is to be borne by the swimmer. It will be the Coach’s discretion to make it either optional or mandatory for the swimmer.
  • Swimmers might be asked to participate in few non-medallist state meets to gain competition experience. The Swimmers will make arrangements to meet the event expenses and will also look after travel and accommodation.
  • Swimmers will refrain from participating in events representing other clubs or their schools. Prior permission has to be obtained from the respective coach in case the swimmer wants to participate.
  • Admissioninto the competitive program is purely at the discretion of the coach. Swimmers who want to be part of the team will have to give a trial or list past achievements. Qualification timings based on age of the swimmer are mentioned in the document and will be displayed on the notice board for reference.
  • Swimmers should buy equipment such as Mats, Kick Boards, Pull Buoys, Snorkel, Arm Paddles, Fins, Stretch chords and carry the kit on a daily basis for practice sessions as advised by the coach.

Instructions to Swim Parents

  • Please do not walk along the deck or engage in conversations with the coaches when the session is in progress. Parents can always meet the respective coach/head coach before or after the session to check on the swimmer’s progress.
  • Please ensure that you are part of the watsapp group and check messages regularly so that communication is effective. Please share all the information posted with your swimmer. Also post only relevant information on the group. No forwards please.
  • Encourage Swimmers to eat right, sleep well and attend sessions regularly. Please do not advice swimmers or coaches on swimming related matters. Let us all play our roles effectively.
  • Request all parents to make yourself available for all meetings or sessions for which the program director/ coach has recommended. Feel free to approach the coach to gain a better understanding of the swimmer’s progress and coach’s plans.
  • Please ensure that the swimmers buy their swimming equipments and kits, hydration powders, Protein Supplements (if advised) and carry it to the pool regularly.
