Call to Order and Sign-in / Karen called the meeting to order.
Additions to Agenda / None
Approval of August 6, 2015 Minutes / Bill motioned to approve and Jim seconded. Motion passed.
Treasurer's Report-Bill / Bill reviewed the budget. Mary motioned to approved and Jim seconded. No concerns addressed.
Great Start Collaborative Update-Maureen / Early Childhood Networking night topics and dates are finalized. Halloween Costume Exchange is Oct. 4, 2015 in Petoskey. New posters for Social Emotional Competence and Maureen will bring to next meeting. Maureen completed training for HFNM Health Dept. home visitors and Strength Finder training for Char-Em Early Childhood Team. Grant funds from Clio Purdy event in Central Lake for children to receive bike helmets and bike tune-ups and water safety event to give out life jackets. Considering a future event working with the Antrim County Sheriff Dept. Halloween Costume exchange is scheduled Oct. 3 in Central Lake. Early Childhood Networking nights are also scheduled.
Healthy Families Northern Michigan-Mary / Mary presented an overview of the Healthy Families Northern Michigan (HFNM) program. This is a home visiting program serving families in Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Emmet, Iosco, Kalkaska, Ogemaw, Otsego, Roscommon, and Wexford Counties. One overall goal is to build and sustain community partnerships to systematically engage overburdened families in home visiting services prenatally or at birth. The target population is WIC eligible pregnant women. There are NO INCOME requirements. Goal is to engage families prenatally or within the first two weeks after the baby’s birth. Focus is on single parenthood, low income status, childhood history of abuse or adverse child experiences or other previous issues related to SA, Mental Health concerns, and/or Domestic Violence. Can use the screen form distributed at the meeting or have the family sign your agency release of information and fax to 231-547-6238. Call Mary at 231-347-5634 for more information.
Governor’s Task Force Report-Fred / Fred gave an overview of the Task Force mtg in May. Fred has handouts he is willing to share with interested board members. Maggie has A Model Child Abuse and Neglect Protocol document that will be adapted to Emmet County Court. The courts want an endorsement from CAC.

·  CTF application / Fundraising-Quilt raised over $1400 and congratulations to Joelle for winning the quilt! Linda will make another quilt next year. Doing Amazon Smile-encouraging people to purchase from Amazon Smile instead of Amazon. Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price to the CAC of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties Inc. CAC received $8 last month.
Courts-September 18th mtg. with Stuart Fenton from Emmet County Probate Court, Jim will attend
CTF Application-was executed and funding good for next 3 years.
Fairs and Booths-Info Summit Sept. 18, 2015 will have booth and presentation on Mandated Reporting

·  Petoskey-HS Community Foundation thanked CAC for Brown Outs (discourage teenage smoking). Haley shared Catching the Wave of Change conference 9/24-25, Frankenmuth.

·  Parenting Awareness Conference is 10/15/15 in Marquette or 11/16/15 in Lansing
CTF –Nov. 2nd/3rd State Conference in Plymouth. Maureen and Maggie are going and presenting. Let Maggie know if you are interested in attending. Child Abuse Council has one paid registration still available. Connect the Dots is an initiative to develop and promote a variety of actions that can be taken by individuals, groups, and organizations. Prevent Child Abuse America is represented on this steering committee.
HSCB-Human Services Summit on Sept 18 session with Dana re: Mandated Reporting. Judge Mulhauser is the keynote speaker. Maureen is doing 2 sessions on Strengthening Families. Mary also presenting re: HDNW programs.
Regional Meeting info-Maggie shared new info learned including ACE and Bullying info. Chartwells is doing an anti-bullying campaign.
Spring Conference 2016 –April 22 or April 29, 2016. Reviewed possible keynote speaker options, including Larry Brendtro and Dr. Michael Bradley.
Nov Community Celebration-Room reserved at Stafford’s Bayview Inn. Send in your nominations!
