School Information
Established in 1992, North Laurel High School is a four-year public high school with an enrollment of approximately 1400 students. The school is fully accredited by the Kentucky Department of Education. The school year is divided into two semesters with nine-week grading periods. The Class of 2015 will need 25 credits to graduate.
Curriculum
All students are asked to select a career major and follow a planned program of courses. Students may change career majors at any time. All students are advised to complete the minimum Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education recommended pre-college curriculum (PCC). Advanced Placement (College Board) courses are offered in all core academic disciplines. Pre-AP courses are available for math in Grades 9 through 11; in grades 9 and 10 for science and English; and grade 9 for social studies.

All courses are included in rank-in-class. Eighth grade Algebra I is included in both cumulative GPA and class rank. Weighted cumulative GPA is used when calculating class rank. Class rank is calculated at the end of the 6th semester, 7th semester and after graduation. Both weighted and unweighted (4.00 scale) GPAs are reported. The weighted GPA is calculated by giving approved College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses one additional quality point per credit. Pre-AP courses do not receive additional quality points.

Description of Transcripts
Data & Measurement utilizes a hands-on application approach of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II concepts and prepares students for the ACT.
Jaguar Lab, COMPASS, and Credit Recovery are all programs available to the students who have previously failed classes and are trying to recover the credits. Jaguar Lab is offered during the school day for students with an Individual Education Plan. COMPASS and Credit Recovery are an after school or summer computer based program available to all other students.
If a student earns a full credit in NJROTC, this will count as their one-half credit in Physical Education.
Test Information
North Laurel High School administers a multiple battery of tests. End of Course assessments are given in English II, Biology, Algebra II, and U.S. History. The PLAN is administered to all 10th graders. Other tests offered include ASVAB, PSAT, ACT, SAT, AP, WORK KEYS and KOSSA (Skills Standards).
The average ACT composite score for the Class of 2014 was 19.8 with 100% of the graduating class participating in the ACT assessment. College enrollment rate will be determined in the fall of the year.
The average ACT Composite score for the Class of 2013 was 19.8 with 100% of the graduating class participating in the ACT assessment. Fifty-four percent of this class started college in the fall after graduation.
