NJPA Foundation May is Mental Health Month Fundraising Event
by the NJPA Foundation

On Saturday, May 27, 2017, The NJPA Foundation Board of Trustees partnered with the Somerset Patriots for “A Night at the Ballpark”, in honor of Mental Health Month at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ. This special event, a first for the Foundation, was an all-inclusive opportunity for NJPA members and their families to come out, mix and mingle and have some fun, all while supporting the Foundation and its mission to serve the underserved populations in the communities in which we work and live. The NJPA Foundation had a table in the concourse area to talk with attendees about mental health awareness and was a beneficiary of the TD Bank Ballparkhosted 50/50 Raffle. Dr. Matt Hagovsky, NJPA Foundation President started the night off with a public announcement to the game attendees about the importance of mental health awareness and the role psychologists in mental health care. After the 6th inning, NJPA members lead the crowd in the traditional singing of “Take Me out to the Ball Game.” The night ended with fireworks over the baseball field. Dr. Deirdre Kramer, NJPA Sustaining Member, shared her impressions of the event -

“I'd just like to thank Matt Hagovsky, Keira Boertzel-Smith, and the Executive Board of the NJPA Foundation for organizing, sponsoring, and hosting the event at the Somerset Patriots Ballpark last night, in support of mental health month. For those of us, our families, our friends, and others who attended it was a beautiful evening, the Patriots played phenomenally (in a blowout game), and the fireworks were spectacular!! We had great seats and the company was wonderful.
If the NJPA Foundation sponsors an event like this next year, I encourage our colleagues to attend and bring friends, family, or those who just like to come but might not have otherwise had the opportunity to.” Deirdre Kramer, PhD
