How to connect to the cloud servicefrom CA ARCserve D2D

The cloud servicefrom CA ARCserve D2D can be configured from File Copy Settings. To configure, go to Settings -> File Copy Settings and enable File Copy and provide Source that needs to be copied to Cloud. To configure the cloud service as destination, (Refer below Figure for configuration details)

  1. Go to Destination, choose “File Copy to Cloud” and click Configure that opens a window for Cloud Configuration.
  2. Choose Vendor Type as Amazon S3
  3. Obtain below details from vendor to configure Connection Settings
  4. Vendor URL: Provided by vendor to access their environment. This needs to be input under vendor URL of Connection Settings
  5. For NIFTY Cloud Storage, we supporteast-1 region which is “ncss.nifty.com”.

Note: Other regions from NIFTY Cloud Storage are not supported for now.

  1. For Cloudn Object Storage, we support Japan datacenter as region for now, it is “str.cloudn-service.com”
  1. AccessKey ID: will be provided by vendor when account is created.
  2. Secret Access Key: will be provided by vendor when account is created.
  1. Bucket Region: Choose the bucket region as “US_Standard”

Note: Choosing other regions is not supported. Bucket creation fails when other regions are selected.

  1. Bucket Name: To add new bucket, provide a unique bucket name by using Add button. To use existing bucket, use refresh button to get list of buckets available and choose from drop down.
  2. Perform “Test Connection” to check the connectivity of cloud connection from your machine. If test connection returns any error, take action and test again till connection gets successful.
  3. Click OK to add connection.

Note: All other options are applicable and can be used on need basis.

How to connect to the cloud service from CAARCserve Backup

The cloud servicefrom CA ARCserve Backup can be configured either from Backup Manager\Archive Manager\Device Manager. Creating the Cloud device and use it as Staging destination\Archive destination involves 2 steps.

  1. Add Cloud connection using “Manage Cloud Connections”
  2. then device configuration using “Manage Cloud-based Devices”

Add Cloud Connection(s):

  1. Go to Backup\Archive\Device Manager and refer below figure for configurations.
  2. Go to lower right pane and select “Manage Cloud Connections”, that opens new window for Cloud Connection Configuration
  3. Select “Amazon S3”
  4. Click on “Add” button that opens “Add Connection” window
  5. Provide below details to Add Connection
  6. Connection Name: Any name that can be used while configured the device later.
  7. Access Key ID: AccessKey will be provided by the cloud service when account is created.
  8. Secret Access Key: SecretAccessKey will be provided by the cloud service when account is created.
  9. Vendor URL: Provided by vendor to access their environment.
  10. For NIFTY Cloud Storage, we support east-1 region which is “ncss.nifty.com”.

Note: Other regions from NIFTY Cloud Storage are not supported for now.

  1. For Cloudn Object Storage, we support Japan datacenter as region for now, it is “str.cloudn-service.com”
  1. Description (optional): Provide description that suits your requirement.
  2. Provide “Internet Proxy Settings” if proxy is required in your environment
  3. Bucket Region: Choose “US_Standard” from drop down

Note: Choosing other regions are not supported. Bucket creation fails when other regions are selected.

  1. Bucket Name: Provide unique name if you would like to create new bucket or select from drop down to use existing bucket
  2. Select “Verify” to validate bucket name
  3. Click OK to add the connection to ARCserve Backup

Note: One ARCserve Backup Connection is required to access one bucket from Cloud. CA ARCserve Backup allows creating multiple connections. To add more connections, repeat steps 4 and 5.

Create Cloud Device:

  1. Select “Manage Cloud-based Devices” option that opens Cloud Based Devices Configuration window.
  2. Select “Add” which gives an option to provide required details
  3. Provide required values to create a cloud device (Refer below figure for details)
  4. Device Name (optional): Default value starts with CD* will be provided which can be changed
  5. Description(optional): Cloud Device is provided by default as description which can be changed
  6. Connection Name (mandatory): Connections created in “Add Cloud Connection(s)” will be available in Connection Name combo box. Choose required Connection Name
  7. Cloud Folder (mandatory): Provide the folder name which gets created in the bucket that is chosen in the connection used. To use an existing folder in the bucket, select browse button and choose required folder.
  8. Cloud Folder Password (optional): Provide password if you would like to protect the cloud folder. If password is not provided, the folder will not be password protected. In UI (********) will be shown in either case
  9. Group Name (optional): Provide group name if required, if not it takes default group name provided by ARCserve Backup

Note:Multiple Cloud folders can be created for multiple Cloud devices under each connection. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add more devices.

  1. Select Next to complete cloud device configuration.
