Each Sale Barn location should understand the enclosed requirements to assist with filling out the following application. This application represents documentation that is unique to the location operating under the US VerifiedQSA Umbrella. This list is not all inclusive, and additional documents will be created, approved and added to the Sale Barn Quality Manual.

Directions: Answer the following questions in detail as this document will become part of the procedures. If answers are not clear and legible, the application will be sent back. This application must be filled out as the first step in achieving VNB, NHTC and/or Source and Age approval.

  • What is your procedure for record keeping? List type and location of records. (i.e. identification records, treatment records, cattle movement, medicine inventory, etc.)
  • List and describe the group identification applied to calves at receiving. (ie. Group numbered back tag, ear clip, group number by chalk, etc.)

The letter specifically needs to state 1) the supplier has an additive-control program monitored by a state or Federal agency, and 2) the feed used for NHTC cattle is free ofHGPs.
  • Copies of all commodity feed tagsmust be available during the audit.
  • A list of all conventional feed (hay, salt, etc.) must be available during the audit.

You will be required to have the following questions answered according to the requirement. Using this checklist doesn’t guarantee approval of your location, but should help you with being prepared for the onsite audit.
