NGO Research Report
The purpose of this independent research report is to familiarize you with international actions that have been (or are) being supported and undertaken directly by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). These groups have particular interests and aims that include, among other things: the environment, food supply, water supply, economics, politics, arts and culture, and aboriginal matters.
After you have decided which NGO you would like to study (there is a list of potential groups below), you will complete a research report that will include the following information:

  • The name and origins of the organization
  • The primary aims and goals of the specific NGO
  • Major events in its history
  • Roles played by Canadians (if applicable)
  • Its successes and/or failures
  • Regional(Ottawa)/Nationa(Canada)l/International HQ contact information

Your report should:

  • Consist of between 250-500 words
  • Typed or neatly hand written (double spaced and use sub-headings)
  • Name, class, date in upper left corner
  • Title that is underlined and centred
  • Include a Works Cited page (use MLA format)
    The following is a list of some suitable NGOs that may be researched:
  1. Amnesty International (human rights)
  2. Doctors Without Borders (medical help in dangerous places)
  3. Sierra Club (environment)
  4. International Olympic Committee (peace and understanding through sport)
  5. Greenpeace (environment)
  6. Goodwill Industries (helping those in need)
  7. Oxfam (famine relief)
  8. International Red Cross (medical help and aid during war and disaster)

9.International Campaign to Ban Landmines(name says it all)

10.Free the Children (ban child labour)

OR

You may research any NGO not listed as long as you get approval from Mr Archibald.
