School Sport Administrator

£25,275 pro rata

22.5 hours per week, fixed term contract until 31 August 2018

Active Sussex is looking to appoint a School Sport Administrator. The role will support the School & Community Sports Officer and the deployment of the Primary PE &Sport Premium. This will include promoting opportunities to schools benefitting from the Primary PE & Sport funding in their area.

Active Sussex is one of 44 County Sports Partnerships in England, our aim is to get more people in Sussex active. We promote sport and physical activity programmes and events for all members of the communityin the City of Brighton & Hove, East and West Sussex.

We are looking to recruit a member of staff to help support the County Sports Partnership’s support for schools receiving the premium.

The candidate will administerthe schools database and maintain information on schools’ deployment of the premium. Theywill keep an up to date database of offers to schools throughout the county, to promote opportunities to schools benefitting from the funding.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with sport and / or education, ideally with knowledge of/experience in a primary schools setting. You should have an understanding of the sports development network in Sussex and the school sport infrastructure.

You should have the ability to work under pressure and prioritise in a busy environment; be able to work on your own initiative whilst being part of a team and have a ‘can-do’ attitude that inspires and motivates others.

As a new recruit to our small, dedicated team, you will take up the challenges and rewards of helping Sussex reduce levels of inactivity amongst children and young people. Active Sussex’s offices are located in the University of Brighton Sports Centre, in Falmer.

Job Purpose: / ●To support the Primary PE & Sports Premium programme
●To provide support to Active Sussex School & Community Sport lead as required/directed by the Education & Club Links Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities
●Administer and keep an up to date database of all primary schools within East / West Sussex and Brighton & Hove, updating new school information
●Maintain a simple picture of primary schools’ deployment of their share of the Primary PE & Sports Premium
●Maintain a database on what external providers and NGB’s are offering to primary schools throughout the County
●Review and update Active Sussex website content on the Primary PE & Sports Premium
●Develop useful information documents and tools to help schools utilise their premium effectively
●Identify CPD opportunities for primary schools and for organisations wishing to deliver within primary schools
●General administration & management of CPD courses including co-ordinating, advertising, promoting, taking bookings, creating flyers, organising catering and being a point of contact for enquiries
●Regular communications: Continue to provide regular communications to schools through enews
●Ofsted analysis of Sussex Schools and their PE ratings
●Record keeping/data management
●Case studies: To provide promotional and best practice case studies that demonstrate the impact of the Primary PE & Sport Premium
●To carry out research for successful national and local transition programmes, visiting local partners/programmes
●Sport England & Active Sussex reporting: Provide any relevant reporting to Sport England and Active Sussex, such as quarterly and annual reports
Sports project support:
●To provide support to Active Sussex sports project leads as required/directed by the Education & Club Links Manager and within capacity
Team Events / ●To be part of the staff team at Active Sussex events such as the Active Sussex Network, Sussex School Games, Sussex Sports Awards and Parallel Youth Games
Operational Compliance / ●To maintain agreed standards relating to Equity and Safeguarding of Young People (as per Active Sussex policy and the Core Service Specification)

  • A degree or equivalent qualification

Experience & Knowledge /
  • Experience of working in one or more of these agencies or sectors:

  • National Governing Body of Sport or other relevant national agencies
  • Knowledge and experience of working with key agencies responsible for delivering PE / school sport and community sport
  • Knowledge and understanding of the main national and regional sporting structures and sports development programmes
  • Knowledge of the School Sport infrastructure at all levels, particularly local
/ Sound sports development knowledge and experience, with proven track record of achievement in sports development or a related field
