Match Reports
U13 Section 1 – Bayside def Boroondara Power - 25-22
We played three really good quarters; but going into to the last quarter we were14 goals up and only winning by three was disappointing. Something to work on for the rest of the season.
U13 Section 3 – Bayside def Yarra Ariels - 23-15
What a difference training makes - there's a life lesson! We played a team game tonight and our column work is coming into play making such a difference in creating space and play. Few wild passes under pressure highlight our need to work on our timing - when to drive and when to pull away. Also the power of a quick double lead, so energy saving! We all agreed it was our start that set us up for a great dominating game so that is what we will continue to work on. Fantastic team work Bayside 13s!
U13 Section 6 – Bayside def Yarra Ariels - 19-15
A great win tonight girls! A big improvement in work rate from last week which is great to see. There was also some nice defence pressure, especially through the mid-court. I'm very pleased with the way you all took what you learntat training to the game - Keep this up in the coming weeks!!
U15 Section 1 – Bayside def by Gippsland Storm - 20-56
Coach unavailable for comment.
U15 Section 3 – Bayside def by WDNA - 20-25
Some good passages of play but way too many bad passes. Good intensity but need to balance and steady. Lots to work on at training. See you Sunday. Good effort girls.
U15 Section 4 – Bayside drew with Allstars – 30 all
Coach unavailable for comment.
U15 Section 5 – Bayside def by Eastern United - 23-32
We have not trained as a team for weeks and this was evident on Thursday. We didn't link down the court and also didn't re-offer. I'm looking forward to Sunday's training as we can only improve.
U17 Waverley Prem. Section 1 (Wed. night) – Bayside def WDNA – 42-41
Tough physical game against a strong opposition. When we had three second pressure we were able to turn over a lot of ball, our defensive end worked well on strong goalers. If we continue to have a high workload and cherish the ball, we will pull away on the scoreboard! Well done to hold onto that win girls!
U17 Waverley Prem. Section 2 (Wed. night) – Bayside - Bye
U17 Parkville Division 1 – Bayside def by PV Comets - 30-32
Not one of our finer games, but with only eight players, one of whom was sick and two who had played netball all day. I think we lacked a bit of oomph and the ability to fire up when necessary. This is a team that we would beat every other day of the week and we will next time!
U17 Parkville Division 2 – Bayside def St. Therese’s - 26-20
The girls had a brilliant win on Tuesday night. The girls worked really hard and our full court defence and pressure was magnificent as we got plenty of intercepts. Well done girls!
Open Division 1 – Bayside def by DC Force - 30-31
We performed much better than previous weeks, all setup with some excellent defensive pressure. Sarah Hetherington was outstanding in goal attack and Aila Pera took some amazing intercepts. Unfortunately we couldn't sustain it for four quarters.
Open Division 2 – Bayside def Geelong Flyers - 30-25
A magnificent win by Div 2 over Geelong! Our defensive pressure was outstanding and our confidence in attack was fantastic. The talk throughout the entire match was wonderful. We started the game off really well and never allowed Geelong to get ahead. A great performance by all ten players. Div 2....if you play like this every week you can beat anyone!
Open Division 3 – Bayside drew with Eastside – 32 all
Best game of the season played by Div3 tonight against a top4 team. Bridie played her strongest game ever, and very good contributions from Amber, Fia, Mimes and Maddie. Good to see Bridget Victoria Cooper back after illness, but sorry to see her leave for a few weeks. Have a great trip Bridg.
Behind at each break we came back in the fourth quarter to get a well-earned draw, with a high-standard game. By the end of the game we had clearly upset the opposition who, despite having a very good GA, couldn't beat us.
Open Division 4 – Bayside def VU Vultures – 34-22
Div 4 won against a very physical VU vultures. It was another strong game and good to see we are playing good netball consistently. When we are patient with the ball and drive forward strongly, we are at our best. We can ramp up the defensive pressure to really make us even stronger down the whole court!
Go Bayside!
