Team GB Sports Stars Dine For Wishes

Paralympians and Olympians will be joining Make-A-Wish® UK Ambassador John Terryat the charity’s annual Sports Dinner on Saturday 8 October 2016.

Medal winning rowers Helen Glover MBE, Zoe de Toledo and Tim Brabants MBE will mingle with ice skater Robin Cousins, fencer Richard Kruse, athlete Jamie Baulch and equestrian Mary King MBE.

Judoka Sally Conway, beach volleyball player Chris Gregory, skiers Chemmy Alcott and Graham Bell will also join them, together with swimmers Susie Rodgers and Charlotte Henshaw, England rugby 7s Captain Tom Mitchell as well asKelly Sotherton, Kirsty Mackay and Hollie Webb , who is fresh from Rio’s GB hockey victory.

They’ll be joining rugby playing guests like Jonathan Joseph – a new sports ambassador for the charity –alongside Lee Dickson and Tom Mitchell, as well as footballers, former footballers and racing driver Max Chilton.

Jonathan, whose brother is living with epilepsy, said: “I’m proud to become a sports ambassador for Make-A-Wish and for my first engagement to be attending their Sports Dinner. The charity is close to my heart having seen first-hand the effect that life-threatening conditions have on a family.”

The sports stars are supporting the charity, which grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions, as it marks its 30th anniversary year.

They’ll witness Chelsea Captain John being awarded the charity’s first ever #WishMaker award to thank him for his support in meeting more than 50 children.

The Sports Dinner, sponsored by Legacy Education Alliance, Inc. takes place at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel and promises to be a fantastic evening including an exclusive live stage show by Britain's Got Talent magician Jamie Raven.

Since 1986 Make-A-Wish has granted more than 10,000 wishes that have changed the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Make-A-Wish aims to grant 1000 wishes for the first time this year and receives no government funding.
