Assemble just prior to 9.20am at the Lions Stage on Capricorn Oval.
Official Opening will begin promptly at 9.30am.

I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the NIYAPARLI People, on whose land we are meeting, and pay my respects to the Elders both past and present for they hold the memories, the traditions and the culture of Indigenous Australia and our area.

Good Morning everyone, I am Councillor Craig Hoyer from the Shire of East Pilbara and on behalf of the Newman Lions Club, I would like to welcome you to the official opening of the 2015 Lions Fortescue Festival.
Newman Lions Club, an affiliate of Lions Club International is a not for profit organisation devoted to making a difference in the community, run bylocalvolunteers.
The Lions Fortescue Festival is a family friendly fun day for Newman and its surrounding communities.
We welcome back to the festival the Show & Shine Motor Sports area, the Arts & Crafts Expo in the Saints football club rooms, specialty store holders and show west festival amusements.
I am pleased to announce that this year we have an exciting line up of national and local entertainment acts for the community to enjoy.
Here on the Lions Stage on Capricorn Oval, the entertainment lineup will be:
- From 10.00am local musician Tiriki Henare will hit the stage
- From 10.30AM we will have a Thermomix Demonstration with Tania Brenziand LaurenStanden
- From 11.30AM there will be an opportunity to meet and take photos with
Alex the Lions Club Mascot
- From 1.00PM onwards there will be local performances from;
- the Filipino Youth Group
- band The J.A.B
- the Thai Community Group and
- musician Darren Field
- From 4.00PM Perth Rockers Ragdolls will hit the stage
Over at the Main Stage on Emu Oval, the entertainment lineup will be:
- From 5.30PM the Newman Club Bar Services will be open
- From 6.00PM onwards there will be local performances from;
- Newman Dance Group
- Violin Solo byCrizelle De Vera
- the Filipino Youth Group
- band The J.A.B
- musicians Desire, Richard & Eddie
- musician Gina Rueben
- musician Darren Field and
- DJ Clint Hammond
- At 7.45PM we will have Fireworks and
- From 8.00PM the biggest & best Australian 80’s stars, Absolutely 80’s will hit the stage
