MICROCODE VERSION 60-02-48-00/00
RELEASED 03/21/2008
Newly supported features and functions for Version 60-02-48-00/00
1. Mainframe & OPEN System
1-1 / Quick Format supportDescription / Quick Format enables an LDEV once the LDEV format starts, which runs in the background. Before this function is available, an I/O to an LDEV could not be performed until the LDEV Format operation was completed.
To perform Quick Format, install the LDEV that has the System Disk attribute.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
1-2 / Guaranteeing data consistency at Split to SI pair in cascading configuration
Description / When Split is performed to the SI pair in the cascading configuration where TCA and SI are coordinatedif data consistency of TCA cannot be guaranteed (during data copy) then the operation will be rejected. The function is only available only when system option mode 697 is set to ON.New System Option Mode 697 is Public Mode – No Permission Required to Use. To use, install True Copy for Open or z/OS and Shadow Image for Open or z/OS.
In the cascading configuration where S-VOL of UR for Open and P-VOL of SI for Open are coordinated, this function can split (SPLIT) the SI pair with its data consistency maintained within the SI-CTG without having the UR pair suspended. To use this function, install Shadow Image for Open and Universal Replicator for Open.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
Note / For (1), when system option mode 697 is set to ON, and Split is performed to the SI pair in the cascading configuration where TCA and SI are coordinated, the split request will be rejected if data consistency of TCA cannot be guaranteed.
1-3 / Support for Windows Vista and IPv6
Description / Windows Vista and the IPv6 functionality have been supported.
Changed Part / SVP
Note / In the process of micro-program exchange, when the versions of the SVP micro-program and the configuration program do not match during the time period when the SVP code upgraded but the configuration has not, the following problems may occur.
- No window is displayed for a SIM message.
- Nothing is displayed when WCHK1 occurs.
No window of remote desktop exclusion function is displayed. Though the user information cannot be input, the login status check controlled by CGI is operated, so the monitoring side can know who is logging in the SVP.
Documented / SVP SECTION and WEB CONSOLE SECTION of Maintenance Manual
1-4 / HDD type newly added in SSB=A4CE for information enhancement
Description / SSB=A4CE is reported when a response delayed HDD is detected.
The type HDD is newly added in SSB=A4CE for information enhancement.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
1-5 / 512 GB CM support
Description / The following have been changed for the 512 GB CM (16GB CM Modules) support:
1. Maintenance time pre-check for CM/SM
When the pre-check for the CM/SM maintenance operation shows that the operation may end abnormally due to a timeout error (4 hours) caused by the high Write Pending rate, a warning and confirmation message is displayed as follows on SVP for asking whether the operation continues. The operation has also been made enabled to continue forcibly with a password. SVP message SVP4132W:This maintenance operation may be timed out because there is muchwrite pending data in cache. Please reduce the workload of the cache, and then retry the operation.
2. Intensive use of the external initiator MP for emergency de-stage
At the time of emergency, de-stage for the CM/SM maintenance operation, the external initiator MP is now intensively used for de-staging to the external volumes. For that reason, the frequency of executing other jobs on the initiator MP for external connection is made to be less than that of other MPs. This function works in the case where the CM capacity exceeds 256 GB and the MP is an external initiator MP.
3. Speed enhancement for emergency de-staging to external volumes
At the time of emergency de-staging to external volumes, collective de-stage is now available along with emergency de-stage to improve the de-stage capability.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
1-6 / Support for battery extension
Description / As the cache capacity of 512 GB has been supported, to secure the time for memory backup, the BATREG PCB and the FUSE PCB have been mounted for the 56V Battery in the R0/R1 frame. These PCBs can be now used for the memory backup.
The conditions for mounting Battery according to the Cache capacity are as follows:
1. Memory backup mode configuration
When the cache capacity is:
- 4 GB to 256 GB: Same as before
- 260 GB to 352 GB: All the batteries (12V/56V) in the R0 frame must be mounted
- 356 GB to 512 GB: In addition to B), Battery must be mounted in the R1 frame
2. De-stage mode configuration
When the cache capacity is:
- 4 GB to 256 GB: Same as before
- 260 GB to 512 GB: Battery mounting is not available
- This function is applicable to USP V only
Changed Part / SVP
1-7 / Message to prompt to set mode 31 OFF after Auto Dump
Description / If a failure occurs at a customer site, the information acquisition mode (mode 31) can be set to ON so that the DKCMAIN micro-program can acquire trace information. The acquired trace information is compressed by using Auto Dump and then sent to RSD. After sending the traced information, the maintenance personnel sometimes leave the site without setting the information acquisition mode back to OFF. Because the information acquisition mode adversely affects the system performance, to prevent the mode from leaving ON, this enhancement provides a message to prompt the maintenance personnel to set the mode to OFF when Auto Dump is completed.
To use this function, the communication between SVP-DKCMAIN must be enabled.
Changed Part / SVP, DKCMAIN
2. Mainframe System
2-1 / Hyper PAV supportDescription / This functionis an enhancement of the static PAV, where Base# and Alias# are predefined, and the dynamic PAV, where the relationship between Base# and Alias# can be dynamically changed. The enhancement aims to reduce the conflict of UCB (Unit Control Block) where each I/O is executed with the Alias# selected from a set of Alias pools.
To use this function, install Compatible Hyper PAV.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
Note / For information on installing Hyper PAV, see the Micro FC section of Maintenance Manual, or Compatible PAV User’s Guide. For requirements and restrictions on Compatible Hyper PAV, see the table below.

2-2 / Support for URZ spreadsheet function
Description / This function enables pair operations of URZ that is listed in a spreadsheet file to be operated with the client tool of a client PC in the Out band connection.
The operations for the URZ pair include creation, split, re-synchronization, release, and list output. The function does not support the Delta Resync with re-synchronization.
When the pair operation (creation, split, re-synchronization, or release) is performed with the URZ spreadsheet function, the operation information is output onto an audit log file in the same way as the operation with the URZ window of Storage Navigator; however, a part of the detailed information is omitted.
Note that, for the URZ pair operations, Business Continuity Manager should be used while the URZspreadsheetshould be used as a supplementary function.
To use this function, install Universal Replicator for z/OS and Storage Navigator. Also, install the CLI client tool in a client PC.
Changed Part / SVP
2-3 / Support for IBM SAK
Description / IBM SAK (System Assurance Kernel) has been supported for compatibility with IBM z/OS.

Description / In the Compatible PAV window displayed on Storage Navigator, the following new functions 1, 2, and 3 have been supported.
1. Displaying the used capacity and licensed capacity of Compatible PAV
2. Displaying an asterisk showing the status that the base volume is charged for using Compatible PAV
3. Preventing the setting operation of aliases that would exceed the licensed capacity of Compatible PAV when the licensed capacity is limited
Note: When the use of the dynamic PAV function or Compatible Hyper PAV function increases the capacity of base volume for charging so that the allowed capacity is exceeded, the SIM message (7FF819) indicating the excess of licensed capacity is output by the periodic SVP check function. (The same as the current specification)
Changed Part / SVP
2-5 / Addition of display items for pair and differential tables
