LONE STAR SYMPHONIC BAND HOSTS SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER

January 13th, 2012. Houston, Texas. The Lone Star Symphonic Band, based in the West Houston/Katy area, is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction as a fundraiser to acquire several large scale Percussion Instruments. This special event is open to the public, with tickets available on the Band’s website, LoneStarSymphonicBand.com, for $25.00 each. The Dinner will be held at Westland Baptist Church, located at 1407 W. Grand Parkway, in Katy, on Saturday, February 4th, and will begin at 7:00 pm.

Ms. Carol Adams, Katy City Councilwoman, will be the key-note speaker at the event, speaking on the importance of the arts in the community. The Dinner will also include a silent auction. The Lone Star Dixieland Band and the Lone Star Symphonic Band Clarinet Ensemble, as well as percussion solos from Jason Johnson, the Band’s Percussion Section Leader and a Board Member, will round out the evening’s festivities.

The Lone Star Symphonic Band relocated to CrossPoint Community Church for rehearsals and concerts in June 2011. Prior to the move, the Band rehearsed at Houston Community College-Spring Branch Campus, performing at HCC and at various local high schools in the West Houston and Katy areas. The Band was able to utilize the percussion equipment and instruments at the schools, but is now in need of purchasing its own Percussion items to continue the high quality concerts that its Patrons have come to expect.

Lone Star Symphonic Band is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston metropolitan area. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high school and college. In the summer of 2011, the Band began rehearsing and performing concerts at CrossPoint Community Church, in Katy, Texas. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
