BIG IDEA:

God made each of us for a unique role in life that He intended us to fulfill and He even prepared each of us in advance for that role. He made no one else like us, giving us the gifts and capabilities to do what He planned for us. But our talents are to benefit others, not ourselves – we can’t serve God unless we serve other people.

LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS:

  1. In Matthew 20:30-32, what did Jesus do when He was called? Why do we tend to think all serving must be planned? What changes in our routine can help facilitate “interruptions”? What is the practical meaning of making one available?
  2. How does Psalms 100:2 tell us to serve the Lord? Why do we sometimes serve without the proper attitude? What are some examples of Jesus serving with gratitude and thanksgiving rather than out of duty?
  3. According to 1 Corinthians 15:58, how are we to do God's work? What should our motivation be? Key points to remember when serving faithfully:

1. Equal dedication to every task (there are no small jobs when serving the Lord)

2. Not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice

  1. One day God will ask us how we used the abilities He gave us. What is the most important thing we can do with our life? How might we know if we are being faithful in doing what God has planned for us to do?
