SCR: Claim £200 by setting up and accessing SCR by 31st March 2017

You need to complete your SCR set up (face to face training, CPPE online pack, submit acceptable user form etc, complete test patient and have accessed SCR, following the checklist and updating smartcards. Details are in the handouts shared at the Quality Criteria Sessions, numbers 4, 5 and 6. Electronic copies are available on the LPC website:

SCR is an electronic patient summary holding key clinical info about a patients current/discontinued medication, allergies etc. SCRs can be viewed on the Spine portal as long as you have a smartcard with the correct access.

If you don’t have SCR access by 31st March:

•You will be ineligible to receive the £200 activation payment.

If you don’t have SCR access by 28th April:

•You will be ineligible to receive the 5 Quality Payment Points

NHS England have produced a series of guides to support Contractors with many of the Contract basic requirements. A copy of all of the documents is on the LPC website, please have a look and check that you are following all the correct processes:

Active NHS Mail address and active

NHS Choices is up to date and maintained

NHS Mail Update

Having an NHSmail account is now a gateway criterion for the Quality Payments schemeand it is also necessary for any pharmacy that wishes to provide theNHS Urgent Medicine Supply Advanced Service (NUMSAS). You should have already applied for a NHSmail shared account prior to 1st February by emailing and received a confirmation email. The NHSmail is usually set up within 2-3 weeks. MULTIPLES WILL BE APPLYING CENTRALLY IN MOST CASES SO CHECK FIRST.

  • NHS mail account is necessary for Pharmacies to provide NUMSAS.
  • The Pharmacy premises mailbox needs to be set-up as a shared generic pharmacy mailbox.
  • Why? To prevent any IG breaches that could occur e.g. when receiving NHS 111 referrals.
  • New centralised approach to allocation of NHS mail account from a local admin approach.
  • All new and existing pharmacy mailboxes must be set up or modified, to have a shared generic pharmacy mailbox.
  • A shared generic pharmacy mailbox is one that cannot be logged into directly i.e. it doesn’t have a password. Individual users within the pharmacy must log into the shared pharmacy mailbox via their personal NHS mail log-ins.
  • NHS Digital will modify existing shared pharmacy generic mailbox accounts so that individual users within the pharmacy have membership access.
  • If a pharmacy has an individual user level NHS mail account set-up for the pharmacy e.g. or . NHS Digital will modify these accounts to make them shared pharmacy generic mailbox accounts. The shared NHSmail will be a fixed format something like: NHSpharmacy(Contractor)
  • Phased roll out of allocated NHS mail accounts will be completed by the end of March 2017.

NHS Choices Update

Each contractor is able to update their entry profile through the NHS Choices Provider Information Management System (PIMS). MULTIPLES WILL BE UPDATING THESE CENTRALLY IN MOST CASES SO CHECK FIRST.

To support the scheme’s two review dates of April and November, NHS Choices will, from 7 February 2017, provide each contractor with the option to either amend their NHS Choices entry profile, or to validate the entry as being as accurate and up to date, in a manner which will create a record which will act as evidence to NHS England that these actions have been undertaken. By each review date, the contractor will need to amend or validate three parts of their profile:

  • Opening hours
  • the facilities the pharmacy provides e.g. consulting room, parking etc.
  • and the services the pharmacy provides.

All three parts will need to have been amended or validated for the contractor to have met the requirement to update their NHS Choices profile. NHS Choices will maintain a record of when each contractor last updated its NHS Choices profile from 7 February 2017 until the first review date; and then again from 1 May 2017 until the second review date in November 2017. As this is a gateway criterion, an inaccurate NHS Choices profile may then jeopardise the entire payment claimed for under the Quality Payments Scheme.

How to set up NHS Choices Account

•Email the NHS Choices helpdesk ()

•In the e-mail provide the following information:

▫Pharmacy’s name & address

▫Pharmacy ODS code (F code)

▫Name & e-mail address of staff member(s) to be given management rights.

•Request to activate either or both of your Management rights:

▫Web Editor: can update info on the profile.

▫Comment Administrator: can respond to patient feedback on NHS choices

How to Update NHS Choice website:

  • Successfully Log in via
  • Presented with an administrative screen, listing pharmacy profiles that can be edited.
  • Where you have the ability to edit a module, it will have a clearly marked ‘edit’ button for you to click as per the screenshot.
  • Using Pharmacy opening hours as an example:
  • Upon clicking the edit button, the fields within the module will become editable.
  • Pharmacies can make amendments to other editable fields within other modulessuch as services provided.

DIRECTORY OF SERVICES (DoS) UPDATE

In order to access the Directory of Services (DoS) you first need to create a user account. You do this by going to the DoS website ( and clicking on the 'Request new account' tab on the login screen shown below.MULTIPLES WILL BE UPDATING THESE CENTRALLY IN MOST CASES SO CHECK FIRST.

Then complete the online User Request Form as follows (NB: all fields are mandatory):

  • Enter your First Name and Surname
  • Enter your NHS work Email (e.g. ) – personal accounts such as Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail will not be accepted (If you do not have NHS mail yet – use pharmacy email initially – they will let you know if not acceptable)
  • Enter a Telephone number the approver can contact you on should there be an issue with your submission
  • Enter the Service Name for the organisation you work for – if this relates to a service on the DoS (e.g. pharmacy), ensure you provide enough information for the approver to identify which service (i.e. town and road name may be necessary)
  • The User Search Role field defaults to Pathways referral which is the correct setting for Pathways call handlers in 111 and 999 – if this is not applicable to yourself, remove the Pathways referral entry and select the most appropriate option instead (e.g. HCP Registered) to ensure you see details of services suitable for you to refer into
  • Select the correct DoS region for your part of the country to ensure your request is sent to the correct approver

  • The ‘Please tell us why…' field is something the administrator will see when approving access so it needs to be something that gives an indication of where you are from and where you will need permissions e.g. pharmacy access for Quality Payments scheme followed by your full address
  • Your Username (up to 15 characters) may be required to follow a particular format, as specified by your organisation or approver
  • For single pharmacy access, this should be in the format “pharmacy.[ODS Code]”
  • For multiple pharmacy access, this should be in the format “pharmacy.[contractor]”
  • Enter a memorable Password that cannot be guessed at least six characters in length – a strength indicator will show if the password is strong enough (a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and non-alphanumeric characters will make the password stronger – at least medium strength is required)
  • Click Submit.

Once you submit your request form you will receive an automatic email like the one below with a link you must click or copy and paste into a web browser to validate your email address. If you haven’t received it, check your junk mail folder.

Forgotten username or password

Should you ever forget your username or password you can request to have these reset using the tabs on the bottom of the login screen. There is information you need to submit in order to have them reset as shown below.

Should you have forgotten your password you will be sent a temporary password via email. It is advised you change this to something more memorable once you log back into the site using the 'Account' tab on the home screen.

You will only be able to update your pharmacy details and opening hours and bank holiday opening hours. You can check if registered to provide NUMSAS. If you wish to have your other services updated e.g. EHC, Minor Ailments etc then you can email your DoS lead.

HEALTHY LIVING PHARMACY UPDATE

All pharmacies who want to claim the Quality Payments for HLP need to complete the current National Criteria, including having one member of staff complete an approved Leadership course and one FTE complete the RSPH Level 2 Health Champions. SAFEGUARDING UPDATE

It is recommended the Level 2 assessment which was updated in January 2017 is used on CPPE. However, it you have completed the 2016 version in the last year that is expected to be acceptable for this year’s quality criteria.
