Care and support for pupils
Understand and practice good communication skills.
Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal language.
Possess an ability to build a good relationship with the pupil.
Knowledge of basic first aid.
Understand roles and responsibilities within the school.
Show an interest in pupils and support them to become independent.
Provide positive feedback as appropriate.
Responds to individual needs and differences within a group.
Use active listening techniques.
Provide support in enable pupils to fulfill tasks.
Support pupil reintegration into mainstream class.
Pupil Health & Well-being
Support pupils in adjusting to new settings.
Support pupils in maintaining standards of health and hygiene.
Respond to signs of health problems.
Responsible for assisting with pupil induction.
Participate in pupil admission meeting and follow the associated procedures.
Establish and Maintain Relationships with Individual Pupils and Groups
Demonstrate active listening to individuals and groups.
Work with any difficulties quickly and effectively.
Encourage the group and the individual to take responsibility for their actions.
Understand the balance between the individual and the group.

Supervise and assist pupils.

Ability to recognise uncharacteristic behaviour in individuals and report appropriately.
Ensure participation in inclusion.
