Schedule Changes Children’s Saturday classes are earlier on adult seminar weekends. If there are more seminars we will announce Saturday schedule changes in a timely fashion.

Optimum Learning Children are encouraged to take at least two classes per week. This optimizes learning.

Reserve a Space Student’s parents need to reserve a place in the class for the upcoming semester. Class sizes are small. The deposit is $35, which is applied to the fees. Deposits are due one week before the end of the semester.

New students and their parents should arrive 15-20 minutes early for the first class. Parents fill out a release form and pay registration and fees. New students may wear loose long pants like sweats and a tee shirt. Children need time before class to learn bowing etiquette.

On TimeChildren should be on the mat dressed in their uniforms at least 5 minutes before classes begin and proceed to warm up their muscles in a safe, quiet, respectful manner. Children who arrive early are encouraged to play aikido games on the mat with permission of the teacher. They must observe all safety rules. Coming early is fun and improves aikido rapidly.

Leave of absencemust be arranged in advance with the chief instructor. See posted guidelines on dues protocol sheet on the dojo announcement board for more details.

Belts Children are not pressured to raise their rank but it encourages concentration and attention to detail. Teachers’ permission is needed to begin working on a new belt. Belts are awarded at the discretion of the teacher. There is a $25 charge at the time the belt is earned.
