REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS

SEE SAFETY CORNER BELOW: Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, CPS-565 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy is a workplace free of weapons, including firearms. The club must emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor over ride this LMA policy. Firearms are only allowed onto the property under the following conditions: Skyline members in good standing, signed in at the gate, must proceed directly to and from the range.

LAST PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME CLASS

The last Personal Protection in the Home class to be held this year? Final decision on exact dates for classroom instruction has not been made yet but it will be one or two nights out of November 3, 4 or 8. The range day will be Saturday the 5. We will need exclusive use of the pistol house form 8:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm on that Saturday. Currently class is looking full but we are establishing a waiting list for the spots of those who may not turn their checks in on time. Contact Steve Rower for addition to the waiting list.

SAFETY CORNER

The Range Rules are being revised for the new range road and range additions. Mandatory training will be required and many classes scheduled. 2006 badges will NOT be issued without this training. Starting in November, access to the range will be from Wadsworth Blvd, not through the main gate. In addition, starting in November, the guards will no longer accept or store firearms at the main gate. The board is currently working to obtain a new secured area for storage of firearms during the day. Remember, just because the guards will no longer be storing our firearms at the front gate, you are still not allowed to bring them onto the facility.

SHOTGUN MATCH

There will be a shotgun match on Sunday 10/16 starting at 9:00 AM. The format will consist of one round of trap at 16 yards, one round of trap at 27 yards, one round of traditional skeet, and a round of doubles skeet. The total number of targets shot will be 99. For more information contact Keith Davis (303) 972-1661 or Tim Anderson (303) 977-6187

CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM (CMP) CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Our first CMP Championship Match was held on Sunday, Sept 25th. We had six shooters show up for the day’s events. Our grouping allowed two shooters to represent each category, Master, Expert, and Sharpshooter designations. The Master winner was Keith Davis, the Expert winner was Harry Porter, and the Sharpshooter winner was Jack Malin. This was a good first-time fully compliant match approach. Beautiful weather, great conditions, and a fun time for all shooters. We will keep doing our regular CMP Off-Friday shoots also. Come on out and start building your shooting skills and meet some good people.

TRAVELING WITH FIREARMS

With the big game firearms seasons fast approaching, many of you may be getting questions from hunters heading west about how to travel with their firearms. Here is a link to the TSA website’s fact sheet covering air travel with firearms. It is not a big deal for hunters to fly with their guns, and this sheet tells how to do it.

UTILITY TRAILER STORAGE PROBLEM

There are three (3) utility trailers that have been parked out at the boat storage area. If you own one of these please remove it or it will be removed and/or sold for you. We are not running a trailer storage area and having these trailers there makes it difficult to move the boats around.

NON-MEMBER SIGHT-IN-DATES

Non-Member Sight-in day is scheduled for October 8th. They will start at 09:00am then go till around 3:00 - 3:30pm. Bill Renkel

OUTDOOR BUDDIES SIGHT IN

Saturday 10 September SHFC opened our 100 yard range to the Outdoor Buddies to sight in their rifles. Attendance was lighter than usual as here was a conflict with the opening of muzzle loader elk season. Five handicapped shooters participated accompanied by their able bodied partners. One rifle failed to fire, a major load shift was required for another, and one scope needed serious adjustment. These are typical problems and good reasons to check your firearms before hunting. The failed rifled was repaired and later sighted in satisfactorily and is scheduled to take a moose.
