  1. Minutes from our last meeting were not available for approval, they will be approved via email
  2. Pick up/Drop Off procedures (Mr. Hansen). A change to our pick up and drop off procedures has been approved. Starting next year there will be 2 parent drop off and pick up zones: the east parking lot and the west parking lot. The ingress and egress of traffic will remain the same for the two parking lots. Our 1 bus next year will drop off students and pick up students in front of the school using what is now the loading zone on the east side of the school (which will be repainted to a bus only zone). Concern was raised that this plan will increase traffic coming into the East parking lot from Indigo Sky Way where there is currently no crossing guard. Mr. Hansen will request that the City come during the first couple of weeks of school to determine if a crossing guard can be placed at that corner.
  3. This year’s Fun Run raised over $13,600. There were some difficulties with this year’s Fun Run including low numbers of volunteers (due to the numerous events going on at the end of the school year), and lack of teacher support. Many felt that there is a need to coordinate and consolidate end of year events and volunteer needs to balance out the requests on parents to come to the school and/or volunteer.

Suggestions for how to spend the funds raised during the Fun Run included:

  • Technology (4 laptops, at $1000 each to complete a laptop set for classes)
  • P.E. aide (estimated at $9,000) (all classes would have the opportunity to work directly with an aide specializing in P.E.)
  • Math/Science manipulatives for each grade (The input from teachers was that not all grade levels need math and science manipulatives but rather have other needs. The discussion turned to providing money to each grade level and allow the teachers to decide what their needs are. Mr. Hansen will approve all spending but this would allow each grade level to purchase supplies that are most needed and impactful to their grade.)
  • Meet the Masters (has already been funded with Land Trust money)
  • Music Aide (we may receive and aide through the Sorenson Grant)
  • radKIDS (still has money leftover that was given last year)

The following decision was made by the SCC members. Motioned by Jessica Peck and 2nd by Darla Thomas. Passed with a unanimous vote: 2014 Fun Run money and any leftover in the SCC account will be spent according to the following priorities:

  1. P.E. Aide (up to $9,000)
  2. Money for supplies given to each grade and divided by student. Each grade will decide on their own needs, and purchases will be approved by Mr. Hansen (up to $2,400 total)
  3. 4 Laptops (up to $4,000)
