A New Faith Community is a newly organized faith community for new people that are committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ and:

  • Are theologically Wesleyan
  • Worship regularly and celebrate the sacraments
  • Have effective systems for developing disciples of Jesus
  • Teach and practice biblical stewardship
  • Are missional and work toward community transformation
  • Receive new members
  • Will remain connected and accountable to The United Methodist Church

Purpose

Partner/Parent churches are an important part of the Mother/Daughter and Multi-site church planting strategies ( Healthy Parent/Partner churches are vital, as they will pass their DNA on to the newly created faith communities. The purpose of this application is to assure potential Parent/Partnerchurches fully understand their responsibilities and are in as healthy a place as possible to take on this work. It hopes to continue a conversation to clarify the role and responsibilities of the Parent/Partner church and the Planter

Process

  • Parent/Partner church will complete the Readiness 360 Assessment (readiness360.org). The Executive report must be included with this form. Contact Jeremy Scott () for access to Readiness 360.
  • The requesting group will submit this completed application along with the New Faith Community Implementation App at least 2 weeks prior of our meeting.

Attach a written proposal that answers the following questions.

Support Plan

  1. Why does your church want to be a Parent/Partner church?
  2. How will you partner with planter to cast vision for new faith community and recruit people to participate? How will the Senior Pastor be part of this work?
  3. What do you expect the planter to contribute to the Parent/Partner church?
  4. How will you, as the parent, nurture the life of and relationship with your child church for the next 3-5 years?
  5. How can the Rocky Mountain Conference New Church Development Committee support your work in this project?
  6. For each category of support list what/who you are prepared to provide and for how long.
