MEETING MINUTES

July 28, 2014

Call to Order: 6:37PM

In attendance:

Visitors: Barbara Simon, Peter May, Meg Haney, Michael Rall, Michael Smallwood, Johanna Goderre, Laurie Crunk

1. Moved to consider Meg Haney as arts coordinator for the New Deal Café.

Motion: Michael Hartman/2nd-Nancy Melandry – approved unanimously

2. Move to accept Meg Haney as arts coordinator for the New Deal Cafe.

Motion: Michael Hartman/2nd-Nancy Melandry – approved unanimously

*Clarification by Michael Hartman: Meg Haney will have the necessary autonomy to perform these duties without question. Meg will represent NDC at FONDCA meetings.

Michael Smallwood will support the Arts Committee on behalf of the New Deal Café.

3. Discussion of upcoming Blues Festival with Barbara Simon.

4. Barbara Simon mentioned Halloween Teen Concert event. NDC will need to sponsor. John and Anne Gardner will be responsible for sound.

Move for New Deal Café to sponsor Halloween Teen Concert event and will do permit.

5. Barbara Simon explained FONDCA funding art receptions. Provided information regarding Anacostia Trails Heritage Area funding assistance.

6. Frank Gervasi estimated damage to for bathroom plumbing repair to be approximately $600.

7. Discussion of options for credit card acceptance when the Internet is not functioning.

8. Discussion of table placement and occupancy (68 seats). Suggestion of “mini bar rail.” Prioritization of tables and chairs.

Motion to purchase tables and chairs.

9. Motion to request formal plumbing invoice from Frank Gervasi for plumbing repairs.

3 AFFIRMS/1 ABSTENTION (Frank Gervasi)

10. BOD provided consensus for Michael Hartman to represent the New Deal Café at several upcoming committee events/meetings.

11. Amethyst discussed support of Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival (GRAD). Wants NDC to split platinum membership with BOD: cost $250

Motion to support GRAD with a $250 sponsorship to split platinum sponsorship with Kariem.
