New Changes for the New Year!

We are very happy to welcome Mrs. Carvalho back from her maternity leave! As much as she enjoyed the special time with her family, she is excited to be working with new students, and reuniting with our SK group!

Home Reading/Poetry Journal

Our home reading will continue to go home on Mondays and Wednesdays (and returned on Wednesdays and Fridays). Now that we are nearing the second half of our school year, we will periodically add some new activities for you to complete during your home-reading. They will directly relate to the specific lessons we have been learning in class. These quick activities are a great way to strengthen the home-school connection that has proven to consolidate learning!

Our poetry journal will continue to go home weekly, as it does take us a week to learn the poem as a class, and to complete various exercises with the poem (e.g., finding popcorn words, exploring punctuation, etc.).

Family Games Are Back!

Now that Mrs. Carvalho is back in Room 147, our Family Games will begin to go home again!

With the help of some amazing volunteers, Mrs. Carvalho was able to create an abundance of family games that the students really enjoy taking home. These games go home once a week, to give you ample time to explore them.

We will be sending home more information very shortly!

Extra Winter Clothing

We have recently realized that the spare clothing that you had sent in at the beginning of the year are summer clothes and so, if your child does need spare clothing, they might not have adequate clothing for the remainder of the day! We will be sending these clothes home, and asking that you send warmer spare clothes for your child.

Also, if you have any spare children’s clothing that you are willing to donate, it would be greatly appreciated! Sometimes a child can have both a spill and/or accident in one single day, and having extra clothing means that we do not have to contact a parent to leave work and bring spare clothes for their child. We can always use shirts, but especially extra socks, pants and underwear. We thank you in advance!
