Never Summer RC Technology & Vario Powergrip
What’s the response been – from both retailers and consumers – on Never Summer’s move to produce reverse camber boards?
The 12 weeks of testing was done by all levels of riders in all types of terrain and in all conditions. The feedback has been 99% positive from both the retail level and the end consumer.
What’s the biggest result of the technology? How does it affect riding for the average snowboarder?
I personally have been able to test the technology on all terrain in every condition and absolutely love the feel. The performance in not only park and pipe with butters, presses, and ollies being much easier, but also riding powder, trees, and steeps is incredible for all freestyle riders that are pushing the performance of the boards.
The average rider will benefit greatly from the new tech, the new flex make weight transfer much easier which makes turning easier for every level of rider.
Can you briefly explain the types of reverse camber implementation Never Summer uses?
Never Summer has the RC Technology & Vario Power Grip.
RC = “Rockered” and “Camber”
Rockered under the feet and camber from the feet out toward the tip and tail
The new side-cut, “Vario Power Grip”, combines both deep and shallow radius to give unmatched response and edge hold, and with the new design we have been able to shave off ¼ to ½ a pound from the previous year models.
Where does your team see this trend going? Are you planning to expand the line?
Most major manufacturers will offer some sort of reverse camber board at some point for the upcoming season. Most will be offering mid-season release while we will be delivering in the fall with the pre season orders.
We are implementing the technology on existing models. The Evo, Revolver, SL, Legacy and Infinity all have the new technology. Our team is very excited to be part of the advances and are very much looking forward to riding the new line.
