The following shall be a part of ITB No. 8548 for Class 13 Dump Bodies and Attachments. If a vendor has already returned a response and any of the information provided below changes that proposal, please submit the changes along with this amendment. You need not re-submit an entire bid prior to the opening date and time.

NOTE: Truck bodies and various attachments are to be installed on Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) cab and chassis trucks to be awarded under a separate bid solicitation. Trucks shall be delivered to the place of business where the bodies will be installed by the awarded truck vendor.

The awarded body vendor shall accept full responsibility and liability for the care of the trucks, relieving the State of Nevada of any loss, liability, or claim whatsoever incurred while trucks are in the vendor’s custody. Following delivery of the completed units, the Nevada Department of Transportation shall thoroughly inspect the unit(s) for total compliance with the body specifications. NDOT will not issue payment for completed units until any necessary changes or corrections have been made.

1. Dump body - Is 201 stainless steel ilo 304 stainless steel acceptable?

No, the Department requires 304 Stainless Steel.

2. SS Body Dimensions PG. 7 – is 36” tall sides and 86” inside width acceptable?

No, this will prohibit the Department from utilizing the existing sander fleet without unit modification.

3. SS Body Understructure PG. 7 – Would the state please clarify as spec calls for eliminated cross bars and ten requests 3 cross members?

Shall be of longitudinal design with a minimum of three (3) cross members between the longitudinal rails.

4. SS Body Sides PG. 5 – Is 8” tall x 4” deep top rail acceptable?

No

5. Is double taper wi/52 deg top slope, 55 deg return slope and 3.25” forward face acceptable?

No, this will prohibit the Department from utilizing the existing sander fleet without unit modification.

6. SS Body Sides PG. 5 – Would a single wall 10 gauge side ilo double wall 10 gauge be acceptable? Or would a single wall 7 gauge side ilo double wall 10 gauge be acceptable, reducing overall body weight?

No on both questions, Department requires 10 gauge dual wall construction for durability.

7. SS Body Rear Corner Posts PG. 6 – Is 12” deep x 4.75” wide x 3/16” acceptable? Is 36” from floor acceptable (to match 36” side height)?

No on both questions as this will prohibit the Department from utilizing the existing sander fleet without modification.

8. SS Body Cab Protector pg 6– Is 86” at bed and front of cab protector acceptable?

No, as bed specified is 84” wide and tapering to 67” at the front.

9. SS Body Front End pg. 6 – Is non inverted lift hoist with largest stage at bottom which provides greater stability when body is raised acceptable?

No, the Department requires an inverted hoist.

10. SS Body Tailgate pg. 6 – Will a 7 gauge single wall tailgate design be acceptable?

No the Department requires 10 gauge dual wall construction for durability.

11. If single wall is not acceptable, can panels be inserted between horizontal bracing to achieve double wall construction?

No, the Department does not accept any horizontal exterior welds.

12. Will vertical braces 4” wide x 2.68” deep x ¼” formed stainless channel be acceptable?

No, Department requires calls for square tubing, capped at both ends.

13. Will 1” stainless steel upper tailgate chops be acceptable?

No, as this will prohibit the interchangeability of component in the fleet.

14. Can greaseless bushing on upper tailgate hardware be omitted if using stainless steel hardware and pins (no mild steel components)?

No, the Department requires greaseless bushings.

15. Is D-ring to be made of stainless steel?

Yes

16. Are all tailgate upper and lower latch pins, latch receivers, latch fingers, and top bolster tailgate hardware to be stainless steel?

Yes

17. SS Body Hoist pg. 7 – Will class 110 non inverted hoist with 2-1/4” cylinder lugs rotating on (2) 1-1/2” cylinder blocks be acceptable?

No, the Department requires an inverted hoist.

18. Would greaseless composite hoist bushings be acceptable?

No

19. Will 1-1/2” cylinder blocks (with top half welded to body and bottom half bolted to the upper block) be acceptable?

No

20. Are stainless steel hinge pins required?

No

21. Is a 2-1/2” wide x 7” long flame cut steel hinge block with 2” hinge pins pivoting on dual each ¾” pin ears acceptable?

No


22. Sanders – is 201 stainless steel ilo 304 stainless steel acceptable?

No, the Department requires 304 Stainless Steel.

23. Sanders Prewet – pg 16 – Would (2) 200 gallon tanks ilo (4) 100 gal tanks be acceptable.

No, 4 100 gallon tanks are specified.

24. Would a ¾”or 1” hose ILO of ¾” PCV pipe be acceptable for the cross over between the right and left tank?

Yes.

18. Should the pump model be N4000L instead of N400L?

Yes.

25. Sanders Electrical pg 17 – Will a Stahlin fiberglass enclosure (used in other Nevada state specifications) be acceptable?

Yes.

26. Sanders Body size pg 17 – is 84” maximum width acceptable?

No, as this will prohibit the Department from utilizing the existing sander fleet without unit modification.

27. Sanders Front Sand Deflector pg 19 – Will a 10 ga 304SS by 84” wide with 45 degree bend, no sides, bolted to spreader top lip be acceptable?

No, 84” is not acceptable. The Department spec calls for a 60° bend and 5” sides, welded not bolted.

28. Sanders Auger Relief pg 19 – Will inverted vee fabricated from 10 ga 304SS approx 11.5” wide suspended by quantity of 3 stainless channel hanger brackets suspended from 3 stainless steel cross channels bolted to the hopper side walls be acceptable?

Yes.

29. Sanders I-Beam pg 19 – Will a 5” 10# I-beam main screen supported by two 7 ga 304SS 3” channels extending from hopper side walls be acceptable?

Yes.


30. Sanders Cover pg 19 – Can the top screen panels hinge on the top side of the main I-beam?

Yes.

31. Sanders Spinner Chute pg 19 – Will a spinner chute with 9” of vertical adjustment be acceptable.

Yes.

32. Sanders Ladder Pg 21 – Will a fold down ladder with 16” x 1.5” stainless steel grip strut rungs acceptable?

No, the Department will not accept a fold down ladder.

33. Sanders Color pg 20 – Is the stainless steel sander body and stainless components to be painted? Generally stainless steel remains in natural stainless steel finish.

No, natural Stainless Steel applies. Only the Spinner Guard and ladder are to be painted.

34. One Way Plow General pg 21 – Will (9) ½” ribs x 3.5” in depth be acceptable?

No, the Department requires 4” depth.

35. One Way Plow Reinforcement pg 21- Can diagram D6 reinforcements be omitted due to our design utilizing a heavier 4” x 6” x ¾” bottom angle ILO 4”x 4” x 5/8” angle?

No, the Department requires this additional bottom support.

36. One Way Plow Pitch pg 22 – Can dimensions noted on diagram D4 be approximate to diagram (approximate as stated on overall length, height high end and height low end (pg 22). (Note: no way to upload design sheet to bid system to show differences). A drawing is available if there is a capability to provide.

No, measurements are specific.

37. One Way Plow Color pg 22- Will powder coat be acceptable?

No, as powder coat creates difficulties when repairing.

38. Reversible Plow General pg 22 - Will ½” ribs x 3.5” in depth be acceptable?

No, the Department requires 4” depth.

39. Reversible Plow Reinforcements pg 23 - Can diagram D1 reinforcements be omitted due to our design utilizing a heavier 4” x 4” x ¾” bottom angle ILO 4”x 4” x 5/8” angle?

No, the Department requires this additional bottom support.

40. Reversible Plow Color pg 23 - Will powder coat be acceptable

No, as powder coat creates difficulties when repairing.

41. Pricing Item 6 pg 25 – Will a Henderson Alaskan Expressway plow be acceptable?

No.

42. Additional requirements 15 pg 27 – Can the finished trucks be driven (by bonded driver) should the installation facility fall outside the 500 mile radius from destination?

No
