Cornelia “Coni” Witters, 77 years died October 30, 2016 in Salina, KS. She was born on February 19, 1939 in Moweaqua, Illinois, the daughter of David and Faye (Stanford) Zook.

Coni graduated from High School in Salina. She attended Bethany College and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with an art major.

Coni married Dan Witters on December 20, 1959 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2009. She taught in Kansas City from 1962-1969 and Salina in 1970. Coni and Dan moved to Clay Center in 1971 where she worked as a substitute teacher and co-owned and operated a craft store.

Coni moved back to Salina in 2012. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Coni was also preceded in death by her parents, and son, Jeremy Witters.

In 9th grade the school newspaper showed Dan using a new magnetic board for the driver’s education class. Coni is watching Dan make a proper left-hand turn.

Cornelia “Coni” Witters, 77, of Salina, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. She was born Feb. 19, 1939, to David and Faye (Stanford) Zook. Coni married Dan Witters on Dec. 20, 1959. They moved to Clay Center in 1971. Connie returned to Salina in 2012.

Coni was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and son, Jeremy.

Survivors: daughter, Jill Witters; son, Mark Witters (Kim); three grandchildren; sisters, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Bevan, Janey Diaz and Kathy Johnson; and brothers, David and Danny Zook.

Visitation: 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at the United Methodist Church, Clay Center.

Memorials: Clay Center Zoo, in care of the funeral home.
