NEC JOB DESCRIPTIONS

At our National Conference in Aberystwython Saturday 21st March 2015, we will be electing our new National Executive Committee for 2015-16. Any member of Plaid Cymru Youth can nominate themselves for a position on the NEC, and no previous experience is required.

Here are the job descriptions for the positions on the NEC. As well as the specific role detailed below, each NEC member has full-voting rights at the highest level of decision-making within our organisation. National Chair

The National Chair acts as leader of the movement. The National Chair will act as a liaison between the organisation and Plaid Cymru centrally, in addition to sitting on the party's National Executive Committee. The National Chair is the organisation's principal authority on policy, and will chair meetings of the national executive committee. The National Chair will act as the public face of the organisation and will authorise communications made in the organisation's name.

National Vice-chair (responsible for Europe)

In addition to deputising all of the National Chair's duties, the National Vice-chair will act as a liaison between the organisation and its partners in Europe through EFAy.

National Secretary

The National Secretary will make available complete notes of all meetings of the national executive committee, will monitor the organisation's email account, and will communicate with members of the organisation on behalf of the national executive committee.

National Treasurer

The National Treasurer is responsible for the organisation's finances. He or she will ensure that the organisation has an adequate cash flow, and authorises the organisation's expenditures. National Treasurer is expected to prepare a financial report for the organisation each quarter. The treasurer will also be chiefly responsible for identifying and organising fundraising campaigns on behalf of the organisation.

Press and Communications Officer

The Director of Press and Communications is responsible for monitoring the accounts of the organisation in the new media, and for formulating policy and documents relating to the press. The Director of Press and Communications will be responsible for the organisation's presence in the press and media in Wales, and for formulating and implementing the language policy of the organisation.

Women’s Officer

The women’s officer will ensure that equality is put on the forefront on and that the equal participation of women in all of our activities is enxured.

Campaigns Officer

The Campaigns Officer is responsible for identifying & organising national campaigns as directed by the NEC. As well as liaison with local groups across Wales with regard to their activities.

Policy Officer

The Policy Officer is expected todevelop and maintain policy documents (such as the Plaid Youth Vision) and to consult with the membership of the organisation with regard to policy changes.

Membership Officer

The Membership Officer is responsible for managing and updating the organisations membership details. This role is responsible for liaising with local groups across Wales and with Plaid Cymru centrally to update and expand our membership database, including mailing list. As well as being responsible for organising and implementing membership drives across Wales.
