Overview

The Federal Government will soon make decisions on a new disability employment framework which should provide increased choice for people with disability and scope for innovation by providers. Implementing this framework will require rethinking some key aspects of disability employment support.

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is exploring ways to improve the current stagnant employment rate for people with disability. NDS believes there needs to be an emphasis on designing flexible, innovative supports that effectively engage employers, people with disability, service providers and government. Specifically, the framework will need to:

·  provide individualised funding in a market-based environment

·  support employers and create jobs

·  enhance ongoing support and supported employment

·  use technology creatively

The Disability at Work conference will focus on developing employment options for people with disability. It is designed for employment service providers (open and supported and social enterprises) and professionals interested in promoting a broad range of employment opportunities for people with disability.

** Group rate is applicable for NATIONAL DISABILITY SERVICES MEMBERS ONLY. Group rate is per person and applies to 4 or more delegates attending the conference from the same NDS member organisation. If we do not receive the minimum requirements for the group rate, you will be issued with an additional invoice for the difference between the full registration and group rate.

Registration Inclusions

The registration fee includes entry to all conference sessions, morning and afternoon teas, lunches and satchel with program.

Participation Requirements

The venue is wheelchair accessible. If you have any conference participation requirements (eg hearing loop, captioning, interpreters, large print program etc) please indicate when registering online no later than Friday, 6 May to ensure availability. These conference supports will be available upon request only. Attendees will need to organise their own personal carers.

Disability and Carer Support

NDS has received funding from the Australian Government Department of Social Services to assist people with disability and their carers to attend the conference.

Support to attend the conference may be provided in the form of full or part funding to cover registration fees, travel costs, accommodation charges or conference support costs. The amount available to individuals will be dependent upon the number of people who apply for funding assistance.

All cancellations must be made in writing to National Disability Services. Full refunds will be paid up to Friday, 13 May. An administration fee of AUD$50 will apply to all cancellations. National Convention Centre is approximately a 10 minute drive from the airport. The taxi fare from the airport to the conference venue is approximately $25.

In the event of industrial disruption or other unforeseen circumstances, NDS is unable to accept responsibility for loss of monies incurred by participants. Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to both personal and travel insurance.
