Trip Recommendations

As part of the project requirements, the CBI team was asked to analyze the survey data and create three (3) potential trips that could be offered to the high school student market.Below are the CBI Team’s Trip Recommendations:

Trip 1:

What:3 day backcountry skiing/snowboarding trip with an emphasis on backcountry skills such as learning to travel and camp in the backcountry, orienteering, and wilderness survival skills.

When: The trip should be offered from January to April during the winter ski season

Trip Size:5 – 8 people per guide (or whatever Natural determines as the ideal trip size).

The CBI team believes this range of clients helps maximize profit while offering enough customer service to the client to make the trip worthwhile.

Trip 2:

What: Weekend Trip consisting of different adventure trips rotated on a weekly basis

Potential trip combinations include:

  • Kayaking, Rafting, Camping adventure
  • Rafting, Camping, Hiking adventure
  • Camping, Mountaineering, Rock Climbing adventure
  • Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Camping adventure

When: Weekend Trips should be offered from mid – March to September/October (weather depending). Adventure trips with a water element (rafting, kayaking) should take advantage of ideal Colorado water level: May to mid-July.

Trip Size: 5 – 8 people per guide (or whatever Natural determines as the ideal trip size).

The CBI team believes this range of clients helps maximize profit while offering enough customer service to the client to make the trip worthwhile. Note: one (1) Raft will fit around 5 – 8 people.

Trip 3:

What: The “Graduation Trip”: 3 or 5 day land based adventure specifically targeted towards graduating seniors as a graduation present/last adventure with high school friends.Possible adventure trips:

  • Camping, Hiking, Mountaineering adventure
  • Camping, Hiking, Mountain Biking adventure
  • Camping, Hiking, Rock Climbing adventure

When: The trips should be offered around the end of the school year; ideally during the month of May.

Trip Size: Please 5 – 8 people per guide (or whatever Natural determines as the ideal trip size). The final number of clients per trip will be determined by Natural.

Pricing Recommendation

The CBI team believes that Natural should determine prices on a per trip basis due to the volatility of their expenses and required profit margin per trip.
