NCLA Technology & Trends Round Table Report

The Technology & Trends Round Table has not been very active in recent years. I'm still trying to ascertain who the last people were to serve as officers, when they served, etc.
I have one goal above all else for the Technology & Trends Round Table in the following biennium: To ensure that it is active and engaged and well positioned to remain so as it transitions into the next biennium.
The first order of business, I believe, should be to populate the various officer positions in a manner consistent with the bylaws, and thus establish the Executive Committee. I think the Chair-Elect/Vice Chair should be the last position to be filled. I think it would be best if that position be filled by someone who has taken an active role in helping get things going again.
The second order of business, I think, should be to work with the membership and Executive Committee toidentify existing, prior and/or new committees and/or interest groups and ensure that each has active leadership and clear & obtainable goals.
Some of the goals that I will put forward to the Executive Committee for consideration are (in no particular order):
* Find ways to energize and engage the round table membership, both now and moving forward
* Establish a robust online presence for round table members (it seems only fitting that this round table seek to utilize technology in achieving its aims)
* Establish a means for collecting, organizing, analyzing and distributing information on current and emerging library technologies for the benefit of North Carolina libraries
* Identify technology needs among North Carolina libraries and try to find ways to address those needs within reasonable means (workshops, information and resource sharing, etc.)
