NCDOT TO HOLD Public Meeting on June 16, 2016
FOR the nc 175 improvements PROJECT
RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Thursday, June 16, 2016, for the proposed NC 175 Improvements project in Clay County.
The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at 50 Marvin Cabe Lane in Hayesville, NC. Interested persons are invited to drop in and speak individually with NCDOT and their consultants, as well as review the project area map, in an informal setting. NCDOT will consider the comments and suggestions received during the public meeting as the project plans are refined. There will not be a formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to improve NC 175 from the Georgia state line to US 64. These improvements will include widening the roadway from 10-foot to 11-foot travel lanes and adding shoulders to meet current design standards for a 50-mile per hour roadway. All improvements will occur on the existing alignment with the exception of one horizontal improvement between Dan Knob Drive and Sneaking Creek Drive. A vertical improvement is proposed just south of Low Gap Road, where a temporary on-site detour to the west of NC 268 will be used to maintain traffic during construction. Right-of-way acquisition is scheduled to begin in July 2018. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2020.
