Water Conservation Collegiate Event Marketing Competition with Kohler

National Competition offers Students:

  • “Real world’ experience for students to respond to a “Request for Proposal” (RFP), developing an executive proposaloutlining their marketing/pr plan and budget, then executing that proposal supported by Kohler.
  • Opportunity to be one of 10 chapters selected by Kohler to receive funding to execute their proposed plan.
  • Opportunity for make a difference by earning Water Conserving products to update their college campus.
  • Opportunity to earn trip to Kohler to meet with Kohler Marketing Executives.

Competition Overview

  • Brand awareness and event marketing competition supporting Kohler’s Save Water America (SaveWaterAmerica.com) campaign driving education of Water Conservation awareness and water conserving product sales to college communities across the country via a one-day community event.
  • One-day event could be in conjunction with larger community/campus event or as stand-alone event.
  • Kohler will provide a “Request for Proposal” to all chapters. Kohler will review all proposals and evaluate them based on potential for a successful event considering four main criteria:
  • Creativity & media value/impressions of PR/Marketing to drive awareness:
  • NOTE: All initiatives MUST remain in Kohler’s brand guidelines
  • Partnership with local water municipality (consumer rebates), other college organizations on campus, distributor, and their university.
  • Attendees from target market at event. (i.e. homeowners, rental managers)
  • Sales of Water Conserving Toilets, Faucets, Showerhead at event partnering with local distributor.
  • Kohler will chose the top 3chapters to support to execute their plan and provide them:
  • $500 for local advertising/PR/marketing
  • $2,500 of Water Conserving products for promotional purposes
  • Tent & Working displays for day of event ($6,600)
  • Contacts for local Kohler Executive and Kohler Distributor for event execution
  • Potential use of Kohler Spokesperson: Ed del Grande, Triple Master Plumber
  • Kohler marketing representative aligned with chapter as advisor

Awards:

  • Top Chapter
  • $10,000 worth of Kohler Water Conserving product to “green” an on campus building
  • All expense paid trip to Kohler including roundtable with Kohler’s Marketing/Communication Executive team for 3 Members of Chapter’s Executive Team and Academic Advisor
  • Water Conservation product for each member of chapter team who executed event
  • 1st Runner Up
  • $7,500 worth of Kohler Water Conserving product to “green” an on campus building
  • Water Conservation product for each member of chapter team who executed event
  • 2nd Runner Up
  • $5,000 worth of Kohler Water Conserving product to “green” an on campus building.
  • Water Conservation product for each member of chapter team who executed event

Timeline:

  • October 1st, 2009: Kohler Announces Promotion & Distributes Request for Proposal
  • November 15th, 2009: Deadline for all Chapters to submit their proposals to Kohler
  • December 15th, 2009: Kohler to announce Top 10 Chapters selected for event execution
  • April 30th, 2010: All events to be completed & final results sent to Kohler
  • May 15th, 2010: Kohler to announce winners
