Eligibility of Applicants

The competition is open to black tags (1st Kup) and below.

British Taekwondo Insurance & Membership

All competitors and coaches must have a valid British Taekwondo licence and insurance, numbers will be checked with Membership Services. All competitors should check that their insurance is valid and ensure that January renewals are mailed to Membership Services with enough time to be processed and returned back before the competition closing date.

Spectators

£5 for adults and £3 for children.

Applications

Participants must enter under their club –as designated by the club number on their licence. Clubs cannot combine or compete as an association or squad. Applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.

2013 National Kup Poomsae Championships – Kup Grades

Categories

There are three Grade Divisions:

Division K1 2nd Kup & 1st Kup (Red Belt & Black Tag)

Division K2 6th Kup – 3rd Kup (Green Belt to Red Tag)

Division K3 10th Kup – 7th Kup (White Belt to Green Tag)

Age Categories

Age categories are entered on year of birth not age on day of competition.

Each age category will be split into K1 / K2 / K3divisions.

Mini PeeweeAge -9 yrs(Born 2003 or after)

PeeweeAge 10-11 yrs (Born 2001 & 2002)

CadetAge 12 -13 yrs (Born 1999 & 2000)

JuniorAge 14-17 yrs (Born 1995-1998)

Ideally pairs & teams shall be of the same age and grade division – but to encourage participation in these categories mixed grades & ages will be allowed however they will compete in the category of the oldest or highest grade member

e.g.1 Yellow Belt 10 year old (peewee K3) with a blue belt 15 year old (Junior K2) will compete in the Junior K2 Pair Division.

Unlike the Dan Grades – Kup grades can enter in more than one pair/team.

2013 National Kup Poomsae Championships – Kup Grades

Rules

Division K1 will have compulsory poomsae announced on Friday 3rd February (Taegeuk 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 Jang) via email and on the BTwebsite.

Division K2 may perform up to Yuk (6) Jang. Poomsae is chosen by the competitor but may be repeated.

Division K3 may perform any poomsae up to Taeguek Sam (3) Jang, and may repeat Poomsae.

Pairs & Teams will perform Poomsae appropriate to the grade of the lowest member.

Format

  • All individual competitors shall perform 2 poomsae in either their 1st, 2nd, or Final Round – regardless of number of competitors.
  • Pairs & Teams will perform 2 poomsae in each round.
  • Compulsorypoomsae and number of competitors will be announced on Friday 3rd February on the BTwebsite and via emails to the club coach (please ensure you complete the attached contact form clearly).

1st Round – (+20 competitors)

2nd Round – (9-19 competitors or 50% from 1st Round)

Final – Top 8 competitors

Awards

1st, 2nd3rd, 4thPlace awards shall be given for each category. Club awards will also be given for 1st, 2nd3rd Place. Pairs & teams must be from the same club.

All competitors not awarded top 4 places will receive a participation medal

Team Awards:

1st Place= 9 Points, 2nd Place= 6 Points, 3rd Place= 3 Points, 4th Place= 2 Points,

Protests

Any protests must be made by the club coach within 10 minutes of the end of the contest to the Head Judging Coordinator: Grandmaster TW Shin. The protest fee is £75 (refunded if protest is won).

  • Organisers have the right to make any necessary changes to the above information.
  • All competitors participate at their own risk.
  • Neither the organisers nor the BTCB shall not accept responsibility for any damages, injuries or losses sustained or incurred.

PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEO RECORDING

REGISTRATION FORM

In the interest of Child Protection the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) requires that any person wishing to engage in photography or videoing at any event must register their intent with the Event Organiser.

Two sections of the form require completion. Section 1 must be completed by ALL applicants. If the applicant is a parent/guardian/relative of a student competing then section 2 must also be completed, section 3 if it is an instructor/coach/representative of a BTCB club and section 4 is for all other representatives/officials.

This form will be retained by the Event Organiser for inspection by a BTCB Official when necessary.

Guidelines

  • NO video filming, photography or mobile phones are to be used in any changing rooms AT ANY TIME.
  • If any player/adult complains or expresses concern you must respect their rights and stop.

Car Parking

The venue has free car parking which can be accessed using the campus south gate entrance and the car park is on the left hand side. Do not drive up to the sports centre itself as there is no general parking. The venue is a short walk away from the car park and will be signposted on the day.
